In addition to the usual populations of aasimar , humans, and tieflings there is a rather large population of genasiae . Fire and earth genasiae are especially common as they find their abilities uniquely suited to the work that happens in Ihaso.

Government

The city is run by a mayor who is appointed by the clan that rules the region. Like most mayors of major settlements, the mayor of Ihaso is a member of the ruling clan. The mayor is assisted in their duties by several officials. Well to do members of the community can also have a great influence on local politics.

Defences

The city still has large walls from the time when the clans would go to war with each other. These wall sole purpose now though is to keep out wild animals and the walls' quality has deteriorated slightly because of this. If necessary, the city could muster a rather large militia as many citizens are very muscular due to working in the mines or at the forges.

Industry & Trade

Almost all of Ihaso's food is imported. In addition to their famous earrings, the city also exports excess or less useful ores and gemstones.

Infrastructure

The most noticeable infrastructure of Ihaso are the deep ore and gemstone mines, the many furnaces where ores are smelted, and the numerous workshops where raw materials are turned into art. General stores and restaurants to serve the miners and jewelers are common. Another prominent location in the city is the market where people come to place or pick up orders of earrings or to browse the works of different Tjewelers.

History

Ihaso started out as a small mining town. As the earth yielded more and more treasures, more people began flocking to the area either to seek their fortune as miners, to sell the miners their necessary supplies, or to bring their business closer to the raw materials. It was this last group that helped Ihaso gain its fame as more and more jewelers headed to the area either to stay with friends or to have quicker and easier access to materials. The jewelers brought their business with them and Ihaso's reputation as the earring city continued to grow, drawing more jewelers to the city.
