Traxle’s Cough

Chronic illness some Devils are genetically predisposed to.

From a medical textbook on ‘Chronic Illnesses’ in Lord-Doctor Mammon’s possession*:

Causes

‘Traxle’s Cough’ is a rare chronic genetic disorder. It is more likely acquired by people with weaker immune systems. For more information, see the ‘Affected Groups’ Section.

Symptoms

At first the disease manifests as a mild cough and sneezing which is almost indistinguishable from the common cold so most suffers do not even realize there is a bigger problem.
“Dammit, Zepar, if you were feeling sick you should have come to me! Ugh, laymen…”
If not caught at the first stage it will proceed to the advanced stage, where the patient will experience periodic bouts of vertigo, vomiting, sometimes including blood, shortness of breath, and a weak feeling in the limbs. Auditory or physical hallucinations may occur.

Treatment

The first stage can be cured through gene therapies, however it is not usually caught during this stage.
“Ugh, of course…”
After this it can be treated with periodic injections of the drug ‘Exital Tri-1’ but, being a chronic illness at this point, it is uncurable. It is a fairly expensive drug to manufacture. Patients also must move on to heavier doses after a while as it wears off quicker each injection.
“Maybe I can come up with a better treatment? Remember to do some more research on this…”

Prognosis

The disease is fatal after a couple weeks without treatment (6-14 days depending on the patient). Even with treatment patients will eventually die since the current drugs aren’t able to keep up forever or even for particularly long. Patients usually live for around 100-300 millenia after onset of the disease.
“FUCKFUCKFUCK! WHY!? Why him? Why now? Death? And such a short timeframe… SHIT!!!” *There is a large tear here, hastily patched with tape*

Affected Groups

Age

In most patients, the disease manifests at around the ages of 7-12 trillenia.

Sex

Females have been reported to have the disease more times than males; around 6:2 patients

Personality Type

The approximate percentages of the distribution between the various types of Devil are as follows: Sloth devils seem to have the highest amount of cases at 40% of patients, Envy 20%, Pride 15%, Lust 10%, Gluttony 7%, Greed 5%, and Wrath 3%.
FUCKING DAMMIT ZEPAR!”**

History

It is a fairly new diagnoses, having been only truly been known about in much detail, and differentiated from other afflictions for around 200 micrellenia from this publication. It is named after Duke-Doctor Traxle, the woman who discovered its existence. Because of the pretty small number of cases, not much research was put into this disease for a long time, only really gaining any prominent interest in the medical community around 50 micrellennia ago. The treatment drug was first synthesized by Duke-Doctor Nyx around this time.
“Here’s hoping I’m part of this passage in a future book. In any case, this is a priority project…”

*There may or may not be a dent in the Clinic wall from said book being thrown **After this particular note/revelation, there was DEFINITELY a dent in the wall of the hallway, 5 bullet holes in the wall opposite the hallway, and one very shaken and confused assassin.
