Origins
The space station that would eventually become The Pleasure Domes of Exon-5 actually started its life as a home for the people of the Exon-5 sector. Built for the purposes of supporting life for several generations the station would be constructed to facilities everything required for long-term life aboard. This would include space for living quarters, shopping centers, recreational areas, space for natural amenities like parks, and specially constructed zones for indoor farming. The space station was the perfect habitat for its original inhabitants for well over a generation.
However, the people of the space station fell on hard times when faced with costly repairs for their ageing space station, this included incredibly important repairs required for their farming domes that were in danger of becoming compromised. This is when the X'angolia Corporation swooped in, offering assistance to the cash-strapped citizens of the space station. They offered to complete the repairs for the station, and instead of charging a flat fee, they would set up a reasonable financing plan for the station. The operators of the station were happy to accept, as they would never be able to afford a flat fee, and the plan laid out would give them, or so they thought, ample time to pay off the fee at a suspiciously low-interest rate.
Unfortunately for the owners of the space station, they didn't notice a cleverly disguised clause, one that stated that if the station missed a payment the loan would immediately default and ownership of the station would transfer to the X'angolia Corporation. Sadly, only a year into their repayment a payment was missed, tragically it was due to a clerical error and not for lack of funds but nonetheless the corporation pounced and activated the clause to the horror of the citizens of the space station. The X'angolia Corporation would swiftly evict the entire station, most of which had nowhere to go and found themselves wandering for months or even years attempting to try and find a new home.
Soon after the mass eviction, the X'angolia Corporation would begin retrofitting the space station with all the required amenities for the galaxy's largest casino and entertainment getaway. Over the next two years, the station would undergo these retrofits, and the X'angolia Corporation would spend a fortune on advertising the eventual opening of the now rechristened The Pleasure Domes of Exon-5.
Thousands would eventually attend the grand reopening of the station, and the X'angolia Corporation would make all of its investments back in under a week of operations. Now, only ten years later, it is the go-to place to vacation if you are looking to gamble, entertain yourself with hundreds of various activities and attractions. Or, if you are so-inclined, conduct under-the-table dealings away from prying eyes, which the X'angolia Corporation is happy to ignore for the right price.
Amenities
The Pleasure Domes of Exon-5 is fitted with anything a visitor may want for. Including various casinos, hotels, spas, bars, restaurants, indoor water sports facilities and beaches, parks, sports fields, and even a red-light district (though the location and access of which is reserved for those that request it and pay a special fee).
All of these facilities are contained within several large domes, a few of which have the ability to become translucent and show a wonderful view of the system, including several planets and their dual suns. One of the larger domes has been turned into what the station calls their Outdoors Amenities Dome. This dome has become a sort of nature terrarium and has a forest, several gardens and parks, and even a lake. The station happily rents out cabins for those looking for a more rustic getaway, one that is only a short drive away from other more luxurious amenities.
For those not looking for that rustic feel, thousands of luxury accommodations are available to rent for those that stay at the station. Various different packages are offered of course and range from single-occupant bedrooms, fully furnished condos, to large complexes. Though the latter is usually reserved for the most prolific of guests typically comprised of government officials, celebrities, and the occasional mob boss or MegaCorp big shot.
The most popular dome, and also the largest, contains a massive multiple-level casino that operates around the clock. This casino offers gambling and games of chance from the breadth of the galaxy. Visitors can try their hand at something a little more exotic to them, or find comfort in an old game of chance from their home systems. These domes are pumped full of pleasant-smelling aromas to keep the station smelling fresh, some rumours have spread that say they pump the casinos with an odourless chemical that loosens the inhibitions of those that breathe it. Though this is unproven of course.
