Isamir the Windswept Character in The Crucible | World Anvil

Isamir the Windswept

Isamir (a.k.a. The Windswept)

Disambiguation for Isamir   Isamir was not a native of the Crucible, having been born on ancient Agartha however his effect on the Crucible is timeless as during The Nayoman Invasion he was responsible for orchestrating many of the fighting forces and initiatives to fight them back.   From a very early age he was one of the most gifted air-mages the "College of the White" had ever seen, legends tell that the "College of the White" was the premier wizarding and magical school on all of ancient Agartha and produced some of the most important mages of the pre-Nayoman pre-Light era. To say that Isamir was one of the greats is an understatement he practically pioneered some of the more advanced teleportation spells of the world and even went as far as bringing in the first version of the InterFleck system with his message packets.   To sum up his talent, pictured above is his private retreat, a floating castle in a pocket dimension attached to the great Plane of Air, from here he was able to scry and divine the mortal realms and observe all that happened during the Nayoman Invasion. His private realm functioned as an unofficial HQ for the fight back against the alien menace, from here he would observe the movements and disposition of the Nayoman and the whereabouts of rebel groups. He famously plucked several groups of adventurers out of dire situations using his teleport magic and moved them to places where they could do good, one particular group managed to unite several peoples of Agartha including the Dwarves and Orcs helping them to bury centuries old grudges and bring them together against the Nayoman.   But of course, this is all a lie.   Isamir was able to send messages to the Crucible via red amber message packets, he stored "Major Image" spells of himself dictating plans to defeat the Nayoman and strategies that seemed to work to all the different resistance groups in the Crucible. He sent word to the Dwarves of Titan that the Nayoman ships had a vulnerability due to them being powered at the centre by an enslaved Void Mysticeti. He sent word to the peoples of Leonis regarding tactics and strategies to engage the Nayoman in the already dense urban environments of the planet.   But of course, this is also a lie.   Notably using his power he was able to ship arms and material through various planes away from the Nayoman due to their inability to sense or use magic of any kind. He is notable for having shipped a battalion of some of Llanotans most devoted Paladin Law-Keepers onto the flagship above Leonis where they proceeded on a suicide run to kill the Void Mysticeti at the heart of the ship, the ruins of that ship now lie broken outside of the capital of Leonis as a monument to the determination of Llanotans people. It was only through Isamir's mastery of air and planar magic that this was possible.   And again, this is a lie.   The real Isamir was a great air mage, responsible for many wonderous things in the pre-history hundreds of years before the Light and he did have a pocket air-realm where he stayed out of the affairs of the material plane and researched air magic. But at some point he fell foul of a follower of Vecrissa, the followers name has been lost to all time but what we do know is that at some point Isamir's personality shifted slightly and he became more and more involved with manipulating affairs behind the scenes and slowly but surely turned the tide of the Nayoman attacks.   The real Isamir is possibly still alive, he was imprisoned in a mystical Orb by a follower of Vecrissa where he was effectively murdered. His collective knowledge populating the orb available to be accessed like a book at anytime. Isamir was a great air mage, he showed plenty of promise, his legacy is that he almost single handedly helped turn the tide of the Nayoman attacks. His real legacy is that he died cold and alone having had his name, possessions, pocket realm and collected knowledge stolen by someone.   On Agartha they still celebrate his name as a saviour. For the handful of people who truly know what happened, they keep it to themselves lest they end up 'lost' too.

Mental characteristics

Accomplishments & Achievements

Isamir first figured out how to store messages in Red Amber, he utilised flecks of it no bigger than a thumbnail, with the energy expenditure of transporting a small stone versus a full person, he was able to give birth to a system of sending messages over vast distances for very little cost ushering in the precursor to the Interfleck system and the age of information.   This was demonstrated by his ability to send tactical and technological information to the peopls of the Crucible during the Nayoman war.
