Oblooks

The Oblooks are the leaders and elders of the Wardens of the Leaf and Sand. They are elected from the general membership and serve for life unless their status is revoked. As a leader the Oblooks are teamed into Triunes which are groups of three with a head, a left hand and a right hand. Each Triune is selected to perform a certain function or role. All Oblooks take upon themselves the obligation to serve others and serve nature in its capacity to nurture and help others. This leads many to become counselors, advisors, as well as gardeners and teachers.
Wardens select Oblooks, and other Oblooks are not given a vote in their selection. Oblooks are only selected who are physically fit, have demonstrated service to the organization and others, and able to endure the vigil and trials. Oblooks guard these trials as precious and sacred. Most Oblooks are selected in their early middle age, having had time to demonstrate skills, service, and be known by their peers. Outsiders do not know exactly what goes into these trials, though they are commonly thought to take a week to complete.
Oblooks are Wardens, and granted power through a second ceremony at The Grove. Powers received vary based on the personality of the individual and the season or time of the ceremony. All Oblooks have the ability to send messages to other Oblooks (or multiple at once) as long as the Oblook is within twenty miles of the ley lines associated with the Emerald Ribbon. The mechanism varies, as some send insects, others whisper on the wind or others send messages through the thrumming earth or water. Even with the varying mechanisms other Oblooks understand the message. It is considered a breach of protocol to message all Oblooks in range except in cases of dire emergencies or established crisis protocols.
