Plague of the Rotten King

“Hunger. I like this word. It holds a certain... Truth." -The Rotten King

Transmission & Vectors

The Plague of the Rotten King is one that lives throughout all of the northern land. It's found in the plants and animals native to the area - no food can conceivably be made naturally that is free from the disease. Not only this, but the strange aura given off by the disease makes the user extremely hungry, making the disease even more deadly. Even bringing healthy food is no safeguard; the infected animals and undead minions, as well as even strong gusts of wind, can force the disease straight into you.

Causes

Thought to be created by the pure malice of the deceased Rotten King.

Symptoms

There are ten notable stages of the disease:   1. Taste of meat, tightening of muscles, difficulty relaxing, hunger   2. Already, you feel more vulnerable in the toxic air of the Rotten King. {-2 to Constitution Score (Reduce health as applicable)}   3. The disease deeply stiffens your muscles. {Disadvantage on Strength Checks}   4. Your combat prowess falters, you feel unable to put your weight behind your swings.{Strength based attacks are with disadvantage}   5. You can't move weight around as you once could. {Push/pull strength halved.}   6. Warding off adverse effects becomes extremely difficult. {Constitution Saves are at disadvantage}   7. Your power is waning, your muscles fatigued. {Strength is halved}   8. Your body's constitution is severely hampered, you feel weak. {Health is halved}   9. A final bodily call to finding refuge, or organ failure.   10. Complete physical body shutdown, can’t move, speak, or otherwise act. Incurable paralysis.

Treatment

The scientists of Wratholme have developed salves to apply along one's skin to help reduce the adverse symptoms of the disease. Still, little is to be done about the intense hunger.

Hosts & Carriers

Animals, plants, and undead minions of the Rotten King.

Prevention

The best way to prevent the disease is to not eat the food present in the area. Even so, being struck by infected individuals are likely to dole out the disease as well.
