Trapper

"I deal in promises and contracts. I make a promise to a person I can't keep in order to deliver them to the a person who's contract I honor. Works every time."
— Kelsey Mackinaw, independent trapper

Career

Qualifications

Due to the illicit nature of the position, there are no official qualifications for modern trappers.

Payment & Reimbursement

Trappers are usually paid per catch, anywhere from $500 to $75,000 depending on the quality, health, age and public perception of the person retrieved. An average 20 year old man caught is usually worth $3000 if they are an unknown entity.

Other Benefits

Trappers must be contracted to a family or an estate in order to receive preferential treatment in parts of TrumpLand. Then they can receive anything from a partial share of a plantation's profits, to their own housing on the estate, to even a house slave that will watch over their lodging and property. Typically, only the best Trappers can claim these benefits.

Perception

Purpose

Trappers bring in new slaves to TrumpLand in order to maintain their economy.

Social Status

In TrumpLand, trappers are considered brave and necessary. Adventurous children dream of trapping people over the boarder in sneaky covert missions.
The majority of the rest of the world find the slave trade illegal, and therefore find Trappers to be outlaws and kidnappers.

Demographics

In TrumpLand, Trappers are a very small percentage of the employed population. All of them are Caucasian, and almost all of them are male.

History

Trappers did not start becoming a known entity until the late 2070s, when the royal Trump family requested slaves good for certain services. As the slave population on the plantations was thinning due to disease, stress and age, the price for potential slaves increased, and the number of individuals willing to take the risks increased.
Over the last 50 years, many poor people of TrumpLand found the spoils of trapping to be their way out of poverty, and even a path to fame.

Operations

Tools

Most Trappers use a system of cages and hideouts near where they hunt, many are electronically locked and sealed. Elaborate tracking shackles are used to hog tie some of the caught future slaves, while other prefer to drug their marks. Recently there have been the use of what's been called Brand Chips in order to track and torture captured persons.

Workplace

A Trapper's found typically hiding in plain sight amongst normal citizen outside of TrumpLand.

Provided Services

Need a slave fast? Picky about the quality and talents of the slave? That's the only reason one would ever need a Trapper. Some also moonlight as bounty hunters legally, but very few.

Dangers & Hazards

The biggest danger is to be arrested by authorities outside of TrumpLand. Some nations consider selling someone into bondage equivalent to murder, so Trappers can face the death penalty.
In addition, they also risk being outed, even if they are safe back in TrumpLand. The Renewed Railroad love using this tactic in order to neutralize Trappers.
Trappers don't tend to work long if they're not clever and somewhat paranoid. Escaped marks do have a penchant for revenge, leaving trappers incapacitated or dead.
