The Core Galaxy

This galaxy encompasses all of the Pact Worlds, Veskarium, Near Space, and Far space. After the events of the gap, the silent war, and the swarm invasion, the pact worlds is in a somewhat precarious position. Even though the vesk have integrated well enough into the system, and trade has opened with the Veskarium, there's still much mistrust between the core worlds and the vesk. Despite the relative peace the alliance has enjoyed since the repelling of the Swarms incursion, there is unrest among many worlds of the system, as old wounds are not so easily forgotten.   Many strange occurrences have been documented of late as captains enter and exit the drift. An abnormal amount of planer pieces have been torn, and more and more frequently, dangerous creatures have been found accompanying these tears. The main body of the Swarm's forces have also been sighted in a sector of far space a little too close to home for the alliances comfort, and have been edging closer, planet by planet for the last several years.   Abadarcorp has made several important acquisitions recently, becoming even more of a titan than they already were. However, A new company by the name of Excellius, funded and supported by the leaders of the Veskarium, several of Abadarcorp's competitors, and a mysterious group of private individuals; has been rising in popularity to the point that the markets have begun to turn into a proverbial war zone. Small proxy wars on several assets in near space have already been waged between Abadarcorp and Excellius, many of which have favored the newcomer, as their mercenaries have wielded strange new technologies previously unseen throughout the system.   The free captains have been unusually quiet of late, with attacks on cargo ships dropping by significant margins. The pact worlds government has seen this as a blessing, and has yet to investigate possible causes. There have also been whispers on Aballon and beyond that the android abolitionist front has been making serious moves in the underground, and that there's some new haven hidden within near space for freed androids and their supporters, with more than one mention of a preparation for something to come.   Beyond the galaxy itself though, something has caught the attention of scholars of the Pact worlds and Veskarium alike. A strange, bright light has been appearing and disappearing, seemingly at random, beyond the rim of the closest galactic arm. When instruments, both magical and technological, have been trained on this object, strange and unrecognizable patterns and wave forms have been observed. The alliance is planning an expedition to investigate.
