Samantha Marie Wilder (a.k.a. Burnout, Time Bomb)
Physical Description
Samantha has red energy, which is the energy that flows throughout all of the databases and technology across the districts. This makes her a bit of a know it all, because, she does kind of know it all. However, just like a computer, she can experience crashes and burns, which eventually reveal new abilities to her, such as higher speeds at times, the ability to use and control flames, and the ability of super strength.
Depends on when in the story we're talking about.
Since she is an A.T.L.A.S. agent, she has all of their weapons and tech at her disposal. She normally goes for a knife- brought a knife to a gun fight- and is incredibly skilled with it. She keeps it incredibly sharp. She also keeps her A.T.L.A.S. landing pad with her at all times. Hers is small, and she has it hooked into a watchface. This allows her to access databases and use the landing pad features without it being too obvious.
Mental characteristics
Samantha has an interesting history when it comes to her mental health. She was born and raised in The Caretaker Society, which is an incredibly strict environment that feels forced and fake. Since she possesses one of the core energies, she was given Caretaker serum from a young age to keep her in line and from developing her abilities. After some time, her parents realize what is going on and decide that it's best for her to go off of the "medicine".
This leads to Samantha losing her mind a bit, and developing manipulative and borderline sociopathic tendencies. She knows how to get what she wants and won't stop until you agree to play along.
She seems like a threat, but at her core is an incredibly kind hearted and good person. And over time, she learns to deal with her newfound abilities and find a balance between the person she once was and the person she has grown to become.
Samantha is Gwen's best friend and cousin, and is a vital side character to the main story. She helps Gwen see just how powerful energies can be, and how they can effect someone's mentality and personal life.
Samantha has RED energy, which is one of the original five core energies. This plays into her mental wellbeing and personality because red is all about intel. Red is linked throughout the databases and tech, so she kind of knows everything and thinks she's a bit better than others. She's right, you're wrong. This leads to some interesting tension in her relationships with her learning to let others have a say.
She completed high school but never went to any other secondary schools or colleges. However, she is incredibly intelligent and tells people she knows almost everything. Her energy is tied to information and data bases, so she isn't entirely wrong in thinking she knows everything.
Another reason she didn't go to any secondary schooling is because of the fear revolving the core energies. That could've caused problems and lead to further testing etc. and she didn't want to endure all of that again.
For a while she works a day job as a secretary for her father's clinic. She gets bored of that rather quickly and moves on to something else. As she looks around she can see the corruption and the hurt that others are causing and decides that she'll handle it herself. She learns that she can't handle it alone, and ends up becoming an A.T.L.A.S. agent in the end (only when John becomes director).
HA HA this is basically her whole character motivation. The serum left her with a lot of mental wounds and scars, and changed her personality so much that once she is without, she doesn't know who she is anymore. She feels lost without it. She keeps wanting to go back on the "medicine" so she can become herself again, but can't do so. When she learns that she has to face this new situation, she loses it, and goes full Phoenix style rage machine. She becomes someone that is feared and has a bad reputation, and doesn't know what to do with herself. When she meets Gwen again, she is embarrassed of what she has done and feels like she must be a terrible person. But then she sees that Gwen is in a similar -yet different- situation, and decides that she can use her experiences to help Gwen not repeat her mistakes. This leads to her finding her way back to herself again, and learning that balance is the key.
Samantha has a jaded view of the world around her, but still believes in trying to do the right thing. However, she will break the rules to do what she believes is right. Unlike Cory who learns that his way of doing things isn't morally sound, Samantha struggles to see how that is so. She feels that bad people should get what they deserve. It's as simple as that. She tends to overlook the details and the emotions behind a situation, and sees things as they appear to be. It's simple to her what the solution is, even when that may not be the most morally sound option, yet she learns and grows over time. Not everyone needs a death sentence, and eventually she understands that.

First Cousin and Best Friend (Vital)
History
Samantha and Gwen have been best friends for as long as they can remember. They grew up next door to each other, and their families always hung out. It was a simple time, and they were two young girls living in a peaceful town.
Samantha remembers the day Gwen disappeared. She was spending the night, and these men came rushing in, saying that Gwen was going to come with them. She could hear her uncle and aunt fighting to keep Gwen home, and Gwen screaming bloody murder to stay with her parents. She never saw her cousin again.
Until she came back looking for answers, that is.
A lot has changed since then, with Samantha learning more about The Caretaker Society's dark secrets, growing in her abilities and strength, and giving in to this dark, manipulative side she now has. But Gwen is still an optimist, and hopes that the ones who did this had good intentions. Hopefully Samantha can help her see reality, and Gwen can help her friend step back into the light.
