Physical Description

General Physical Condition

It is difficult to tell that Marcus is a man of the legions. He looks more akin to a bookkeeper and or administrator and would likely be more comfortable. He is not particularly big or strong, but holds himself as proud as a legionnaire.

Body Features

Marcus resembles more a stuffed doll of a soldier than a true legionnaire, a particular understuffed doll. He is lanky and slender, with thin arms and a narrow waist and chest. Although he holds his body high, he’s gangly and easy to know over.

Facial Features

His face is clean-shaven, offering a clear view at his handsome visage. His cheeks are thin and tapper sharply along his pointy chin. There is a smattering of freckles along his nose. His dark hair is close cropped as per legionnaire issue.

Apparel & Accessories

He bears a jeweled dagger and a golden staff whose end splits into two prongs and is shaped into a laurel wreath.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Marcus Rufus was born to the Fufii family, a minor but ancient house. This ensured he grew up in a life of luxury and privilege. Despite that, Marcus was highly studious and learned about various topics such as music, philosophy, and mathematics. He took a particular interest in administration and military history.
With a skill set like that, it was little surprise that he would enlist in the Trepan legion. Despite his age, he would be granted the position of Tribune, a high position within the legion. Although seen as a stepping stone for politics, it still carried considerable responsibility as military officers and he would be placed in charge of the Bog Fort and elements of the Second Bog Legion.

Intellectual Characteristics

Marcus is considered by many to be highly intelligent, enjoying access to some of the most talented tutors in the empire and an admittedly highly talented staff in his legion. In particular, his administrative skills are legendary and he has ensured that all supplies in his fort are accounted for.
However, much of his intelligence comes from his knowledge from books rather than practical experience. So although his understanding of the fundamentals of military science is impressive, actual field experience is nonexistent. In fact he has not even stepped into the battlefield due to buying his position.

Morality & Philosophy

In terms of morality, Marcus is a legalist who views the survival of the Trepan empire as the only objective of his office. That includes its survival physically and morally. In that regard, he views obedience of its laws key.
That means in a situation, he will base his decision on the law and what it dictates, focusing only on the facts while pushing emotion to the side. He takes influence from many Trepan philosophers who postulate similar ideas.
However, in practice while comfortable giving orders, Marcus is unnerved by brutality and needless suffering.

Taboos

Marcus is against the use of torture and needless brutality. He also strongly opposes attempts to go over his head or to defy the laws.

Virtues & Personality perks

Above all else, Marcus is genuinely devoted to the survival of the Trepan empire and works tirelessly to uphold its law. He takes great care to understand the laws and regulations in place of his position and works hard to stamp out corruption.

Vices & Personality flaws

Marcus often keeps to himself and carries himself with a sullen arrogance, talking down on those who he does not agree with. If he feels that they do not share his values he often questions their loyalty to the Empire and regards them with contempt.
Additionally, despite his understanding of the principles of the law, he a lacks understanding of people's experience with it. Since he is born into wealth, he doesn’t see how the law is abused or how it works against the poor.
