Yatoma

Yatoma is a large city located in the planet of Yaith. It is one of the largest settlements in the planet, with over 60% of it being Humans, and it hosts large governmental organizations' hubs like the Yaith Planetoid Building
Yatoma has always been a city of large influence over the planet, specially because of the several tribes that had depended upon it for their late-year water supply recharge, and this only got more accentuated when the former capital of Yokka suffered the catastrophic event often known as 'the great vanishing', moment by which Yatoma became the planetary capital.
The city is located near the Dune Sea of Almoir, a vast desertic landscape with ever-changing dunes that covers a large portion of the planet. The proximity of the desert to the city posed a massive threat in the past, specially at times when atmospheric thrusters were still prone to fail with small amounts of suspended particles.
However, the city has slowly abandoned its easternmost suburbs in an attempt to make a large scale anti-desertification effort eastwards, planting thousands of smaller shrubs and other vegetation, and the new spaceport is located on the west banks of the Flue river, now avoiding the sandstorms much more due to the depression in which those areas of the city are built. While not much de-desertification has been managed, large innitiatives to make large scale vegetable farms on the area have proven successful at reducing sandstorms.
The city features a large market with lots of local harvests, called the Foral Market of Yatoma, known for being the largest in the whole world despite having no seafish and barely any livestock posts.
