Thixrosil Character in The Chronicles of Traith | World Anvil

Thixrosil

Thixrosil Durynoss

(Thix-ro-sil Dur-rin-oss)   Born to noble parents Thixrosil was a happy child in most respects. He possessed an above average intelligence and began talking at an unusually young age. Thixrosil was reading at age of five and not just writings meant for a child but from any source he could put his hands on. His parents had high aspirations for him to continue to carry the family name to greatness.   When Thixrosil turned eight his parents begrudgingly allowed him to be taken by the local church to begin training to become a priest. He served the gods loyally for two decades as he performed many deeds in their name. As the time in their service went on Thixrosil became disenchanted feeling as though the gods weren't caring for their worshippers as they should and had become neglectful. He left the clergy shortly after his twenty-ninth birthday as he could and would no long venerate deities he felt lacking. This didn't look good for the church as one of their most beloved and highest ranking priest no longer believed in the pantheon. The pantheon and the church labeled him a heretic and began purging all mention of Thixrosil their records.   Having all but vanished from the pages of history for two decades Thixrosil reappeared as a promising member of the Society of Practitioners. He was apprenticed to the High Practitioner and was rapidly ascending the arcane latter. Thixrosil was a prodigy in the arcane arts quickly eclipsing other wizards who had been practicing since before he was born. As the years rolled on his hunger for knowledge seemed unquenchable, he found himself delving deep into his studies sometimes disappearing for years at a time. He had just begun using magic and alchemy to prolong his life as he felt his research wasn't complete. In that time Thixrosil pioneered many advances in the school of Enchantment with a focus on magics that dealt with the binding of beings. He was laying the ground work for something that hadn't yet fully formed in his mind.   Not all of this time was spent in libraries or archives Thixrosil traveled the planes spending extended periods of time on the various elemental planes. During one of his excursions into the planes Thixrosil came very close to death and for the first time in centuries he found he was still able to tap into the divine energies he once used in the name of the gods to heal himself. These events perplexed Thixrosil as he no longer venerated the pantheon he once serve yet he was still capable of divine spellcasting. Thixrosil wished to began a new lime of research into how this was possible but realized that the magics and alchemy he'd been using to extend his life span were beginning to fail him and were no longer a viable option. Having never been one who sought to create or use the undead to further his own goals the idea of undeath was uncharted territory for Thixrosil. He did not consider himself to be evil by any means but he did believe in balance and had performed many acts of good over the course of his extended life and if a little evil was necessary to maintain the balance he believed in then so be it.   The gods had taken notice and were growing fearful of Thixrosil who was achieving levels of power few mortals ever had. Many of the gods ordered their servants to keep an closer eye on Thixrosil and some actually sent servants to move against him.   .

Thixrosils' account of the "The Shattering"

This passage was taken from Thixrosils' journal.   25th of Dromaul 2000 AM   Trying to pull myself together I looked left and then right. Only three of our original company of seven still stood Glis, Zangelder, and myself. I was still processing the chaos unfolding around us. The ground was shaking uncontrollably beneath our feet, the winds whipped around with the force of a gale, the air, oh the air it thrummed with the power of the magics being used to the point of almost being tangible. We had dispatched the Yuan-ti Sorcerers' ending the ritual they were performing but at heavy cost. The portal occupied much of the sky was only beginning to collapse. Serpents and reptiles of all variations and stages of evolution were spilling out as the dark entity was forcing itself through onto Traith.     I again began praying to the Gods I had served attempting to summon them forth to aid us in the defense of Traith. I felt nothing from them no they didn't fill me with hope or grant me reassurances we'd all be okay. It left me to wondered if the Gods were as scared of this dark entity as I was. My faith in the pantheon was being tested and I was failing. If the Gods were capable of helping and left this cataclysmic event in the hand of us mortals what was the purpose of offering them faith and devotion?     My faith in my companions was also being tested as well and it was growing stronger by the second. Glis stood steadfast exuding an aura of calmness as she analyzed our situation. Zangelder had just finished casting his last spell as a magical shell appeared around us giving us all a moment to fully compose ourselves. I used whatever healing magics I had left to tend to my companions.   Before we made what would be our final push Zangelder says "Either way, if we fail or succeed here this was an incredible stand we made here today. Granted had we been able to stop or capture that forked tongue Yuan-ti Rhasssik we wouldn't be in this situation. Yet here we are and honestly if I'm gonna die at least I'll do it next to the smartest man I know and the most gorgeous woman I've ever met. I am truly fortunate to have friends like you two, I mean aside from you being a priest and Glis being a paladin."
