Snek

The uncontacted natives of Schvarzbaum* are a particular group. In their short contact with the wider galaxy, they said little. That they seem to call themselves the Snek was one of very few messages actually decoded.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Snek language is inherently chaotic by design. Ever since their discovery, the Snek appear to have intentionally adopted an extreme rate of linguistic drift. Presumably, this is done to add an extra layer of encryption to their communications, to make it look more like random noise to any prying eyes. Even if Concordance codebreakers could glean their comms, liguists would only be able to speculate what their languages actually mean.

Shared customary codes and values

The Snek of Schvarzbaum* appear to value silence above all. This is the primary trait their people have left us. We can only assume this arises out of an extreme xenophobia unbecoming of humankind; when explorers found them, they were in the midst of what looked like a war between differing Snek ethnic groups. An inter-group race war, based on what little evidence was gleaned. Though, as soon as Concordian explorers appeared in their skies, the Snek began to show an extreme level of Snek solidarity, uniting against what they perceived as a greater threat.
