The Chimera Sector

Over a millennia ago, the sprawling expanse of humanity's reach was limited to only a single planet, Earth. Hard to imagine, isn't it? And here we are, only centuries after humanity was pushed to the brink of collapse despite an empire that spanned the width of the galaxy. Like poetry, it was our reliance on psionics that made us prosper, and our reliance on psionics that made us suffer. We must ask ourselves how far we're willing to push these boundaries as we rebuild, and what it truly means to be prosperous. Can we live happy and fulfilling lives without jump gates or societies built upon psionics? Or perhaps The Scream will never happen again, and the question is lost in irrelevance. But to the people of the Chimera Sector, questions like these are as insignificant to them as they are to the question itself. These are the least of someone's worries when a society driven by fear watches over their shoulders, when the slightest mistake or even random chance could send them to Valera.   Some people find their calling in the vastness of space, purchasing a private vessel and choosing to live their lives as spacers, through trade or piracy. It goes without saying how dangerous a spacer life can be, and even the simplest drill into drive space can be fatal for a whole crew of inexperienced adventurers. The sector is unforgiving, especially in these times of reformation, when change is hostile but necessary. So, did you choose the path of a spacer, or were you driven to it by desperation?
