Chapter 3.5: Under Lock and Quill

Floors: The floors are rough cobblestone, totally uncomfortable to walk on, nevermind sitting or sleeping.

Walls: The walls are the same stone as the floor, rough, abrasive, and cold.

Warmth: This side of the floor is damp, and chills to the bone.

Light: There are no sources of light on this floor, save for a single lantern on a peg above the dining table in the big room.

Stench: The second the PCs enter the floor, they can smell rotten meat.

1: Boss Room: In this room is multiple dining tables with nightmares sitting at them, arranged in rows, with all of them standing in front of a central table covered in slabs of meat, with a man in a chef’s uniform working hard, and cutting it to pieces. Upon walking into the rooms, the chef noticed them, and initiates a conversation. During the conversation, he will tell them his name is “Chef Nickoli,” and ask them if they want something to eat, as they most likely look hungry. If they accept, they just ate human, and take 1d4 poison damage, as their bodies most likely refuse the meat, and they vomit it all up. If they refuse, he’ll slam his clever into the table, and say “Well then, come, come... Chef Nickoli... will make YOU dinner,” and point at them creepily, as 2d4 nightmares that are sitting at the tables take notice, and join him in the fight. Alternatively, if they do eat the meat, the Chef will start laughing, and say “What? Don’t like it? Sorry it say, but there’s more on the way!” See nightmare stat block, along with Chef Nickoli.

2: In this room sits a make-shift cage, with people with broken legs sitting in the cells, seemingly too dehydrated to call for help, only whimpering. If the Pcs try to help them, one of them hands the closest PC a shard of glass, and mouths the word “kill.”
