Drow

"Drow are becoming more an more infamous in the recent years of Kaviru's history. Their intended purpose was to function as a way of keeping the wood elves in check. But when they showed themselves to be much too cruel and vicious, they were cast into the Cage. Or at least, that's how the lore goes. According to my findings, Drow made their rise to power when they joined the Great Migration and dug into the earth to found Kaviru. After established nations and settlements had been made, the Drow showed their true colors and struck the Orcish bastions of civilization and forts, taking their great cities for themselves. The Orcs were enslaved by the Drow's natural attunement to Divine energy and have not been independent in over three thousand years." -The Wondrous and Terrifying Creatures of Development: An Analysis of the Creations of the Universe   Drow are descendants of elves that followed other mortals into Kaviru. They have pale skin and a sort of nightly ethereal beauty similar to the sun elves, but in reverse. They despise the other mortal races and see them as lesser. Among several caverns, they reign supreme, enslaving both Orcs and Humans. They are ruthless and exploitative by nature.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

The Drow are ruthless, believe that guilt is a weakness and that any kind of mercy shown to a nondrow is treachery. However, among each other, there is a great deal of respect for one another's power.

Shared customary codes and values

Drow Supremacy should dominate Kaviru.

Art & Architecture

Drow art, like its culture heavily enforces its ideals of superiority, cruelty and remorselessness. Statues of Drow crushing others beneath their feet or torturing enemy races are seen as inspiring and heroic.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

It is common for Drow to take bed slaves, even if they are married. Since slaves don't count as people, bed slaves are treated more like sex toys than anything. Slaves in general are treated like tools and appliances one might find commonly in the home. Every Drow has at least one slave to serve them in any number of ways. Those among the higher class regularly force their thousands of slaves to fight wars for them and be used as infantry to wear down the enemy.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

Drow are marked with runes that strip away their empathy from infancy.

Coming of Age Rites

Receiving your first slave as a Drow is a big deal and one that's often celebrate by feasts, parties and humiliation of the slave by their new owner.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Drow caskets are cast into lava, buried in the molten earth with their servants and slaves.

Common Taboos

Treating other races with respect or empathy is seen as betrayal.
