The Book of Dengoth
546 AX
The Book of Dengoth is set within a rotten, decaying world plagued by war, corruption, religious penitence, and greed. All around are the magnificent towers and cathedrals stretching upward and scraping the night-lit heavens. Their interiors are filled with the food and drink of nobility as they desperately try to ignore their decaying cities, playing a game of politics as a sad excuse for their depraved behavior. Down below the golden stonework of the high-rising monoliths are the filth-ridden streets of the common people. Cracks and crevices cover the weathered architecture as gangs of mercenaries and dishonored knights kill for scraps of gold. The stench of poverty contrasts greatly with the high walls of tyrannical empires and kingdoms. The holy imagery of saints and prophets stare down the people of all classes with a judgment of cold indifference.
On the outskirts of civilization, the blight of the Scourge dominates the entirety of a continent, turning all manner of creatures into nightmarish demons of wrath and corruption, or perhaps into something far, far worse. Mighty dragons rule the sky and earth, their power alone enough to erase entire civilizations.
The world slowly descends into a cacophony of chaos and self-destruction, and everyone wants out.
