The Naliru

Basic Information

Anatomy

Is a large tiger class creature with long but thick legs which can balloon, but also thin, producing nail-like spikes which can hook onto any wooden surface, the spikes strong enough to even crack rock.

Growth Rate & Stages

Their life cycle is fifteen years. The first five years the most work-related to raising the creature.

It's born on its feet, watched by the mother and father, who will remain kind and supportive of their blood till death. This makes it difficult to separate calves from their parents. But after two years, parents will stop sharing food, and the child will need to fend for themselves. But still remain in the herd they create. Their rather limited lifespans, make very large herds very hard to maintain but also rock solid and impossible to break.

Though an extremely loving species they do confuse the pheromones given by their own blood, mating with them. Though the effect of inbreeding is low. Culturally, breeders will breeders will spend a fortune to ensure genetic diversity going for a 'fresh blood'.

Additional Information

Social Structure

In the wild they travel in large slow moving backs, which depending on the richness of the environment can have up to a thousand Naliru, which is considered to be dangerous, though not for the ecology which can maintain them very well. The danger comes for humans, the creates are capable of hunting Naliru in such groups could easily kill dozens if not hundreds of humanoids. Though they are very good for soil, a massive heard could destroy human cities structures leaving only rubble behind, destroying crops, harvest cycle for that season or a year.

Herds of Naliru in the wild will be led by central group of Naliru who are generally large and more dangerous than the others but uniquely lead from the middle, they are not in the middle themselves that to Naliru babies who are looked after by these centre Naliru to ensure they are absolutely safe.

Domestication

They are technically still under the domestication process. An entire industry forming under those who can grow the best Naliru, the best bulls being sold at a high price. The reason for domestication is their ability to pull great weight and travel at an even speed far greater distances than most horses. The real drawback being their breeding potential, only mating with a single spouse a child or a direct blood relative such as a sister or brother.

Meaning its financially smarter to just lock them as a family and let them interbreed but also considered to be short term thinking.
