The Praxis Arc

Hard Times

Chronicler's Report 12nd Sun, Fifth Astral Moon
As funds began to grow scarce from the previous jobs, the crew needed to look for more work. A number of jobs came up at once and so three members of the crew took groups to complete the jobs.   Adera was contacted with a request for aid from a village in the Shroud who had been victim of some kidnappings. After questioning the villagers, they found a cultist group hiding in a cave east of the town. The cultists were sacrificing the villagers to their Blood God and performing some perverse ritual that involved eating the heart and drinking the blood of the sacrificed. The group fought and killed the cultists but Adera suspects it is not the last we have seen of them.   Corsa'ir took a job from the Syndicate. His group was to infiltrate an auction house where a slavery ring was selling their goods. A target was given to the group and they were to acquire the asset by any means necessary, preferably keeping a low profile. The specific details of this job are strictly confidential but suffice to note that the job went well and we are now owed a favour from the Syndicate.   A'kata lead a group to assist with fighting the Garleans. They had deployed a spider mech and the captain was asked to help destroy it. The group found goblin tanks in a supply cache and used them to attack the mech. They met mixed success with the tanks, Bryna specifically having issue and hitting the other tank a few times. Once the mech was wounded enough, A'kata lead the group in a boarding party and overloaded the machine. In their attempt to escape the exploding mech, many of the group were wounded with Aifread requiring amputation of an arm and a leg. The resulting chaos cost the entirety of the Rocinante's ammunition and severely damaged the guns.   The gain from these missions is not enough to cover the cost of the repairs and resupply and so a new solution must be found.

Odd Jobs

Chronicler's Report 16th Sun, Fifth Astral Moon
The crew went to Praxis, a haven for pirates and other less than reputable folk. The opportunity for profit here is immense. The first order of business was to make friends with the locals and attempt to acquire a pass into the more wealthy parts of the city. To that end, the crew split up.   Adera took a group to hunt some beasts with bounties on their heads. The first beast ended up being a giant goobue, 35 flums tall. The group managed to tame the goobue and took it to help in the fight against the second beast, a giant squid. With the aid of the goobue, now named Lil' Green, the squid was easily handled. The group now faced a dilemma. The townsfolk were expecting a dead goobue, but certain members had grown attached to Lil' Green. It was decided to hide the goobue in a cave and kill a different goobue to act as proof.   Corsa'ir took a separate group to find an information broker that could be of use to the crew. The broker was purported to be able to be found through the slums. The group questioned locals, eventually determining that a young boy could lead them to their man. In following the boy a new threat made itself known, a corrupt watchman who exploited those living in the slums. The group killed the watchman and found the broker.   A'kata took the final group to attempt to get the merchant pass. An illegal fighting area was found and Einarr and Brandt were entered. With the aid of the others, the two flew through the first round. In the second round, Einarr revealed a secret flash bang but ended up wounded after its use. Luckily, Aifread had managed to poison the champion, causing him to have a heart attack upon entering the arena. Einarr and Brandt were declared the victors and gifted the merchant pass as reward.

On the Trail

Chronicler's Report 31st Sun, Fifth Astral Moon
In continuing the efforts to make friends in Praxis, the crew took a few more contracts.   Adera took a group to investigate a robbery at a warehouse. The entire thing seemed suspicious, the job looked unprofessional, there was no one at the warehouse when the team arrived. Most suspicious of all were the valuable left behind. A crate of gems missing. The team recovered some paperwork that seemed to hold a hidden code. As the team was attempting to figure out who could have done this, a group of mercenaries attacked. The team dispatched the mercenaries, afterwards discovering that they were sent to kill any who investigated the warehouse.   Aifread lead another group find a lost ship. A'kata convinced some longshoremen to bring them to where they thought the missing ship was. The ship was found along with a number of documents that may prove useful. As they continued searching the ship, sirens attacked taking Einarr and Dinor with their song. The rest of the group fought the sirens and freed their friends before sailing the missing ship back.   Corsa'ir took a group to find the gem thief. They infiltrated the birthday party of a young rich girl, suspecting the thief to attempt to steal her presents. The team managed to foil the thieves plan and attempted to take him into custody. Once the thief realized they were not the authorities nor were they sent to capture him, a deal was struck to trade information. They asked about the gems and important information was gained. However the team reneged on their deal and once again tried to take the thief into custody, making an enemy of the man.
