Limsa Lominsa
History With The Garden
Privateering
Exiled from Ul'dah and with little resources the crew of the Rocinanate was forced to adapt. Having had the ship for only a few months they were still a fledgling crew with few skyward battles underneath their belt. With supplies for the airship being limited in Gridania and Foundation being an unlikely home the crew ventured toward Limsa. By now their funds were beginning to disappear and it would only taken a few weeks before the coffers were dry. With the increased activity around the oceans of the city-states and having aerial combat capabilities, A'kata was able to negotiate an agreement with maritime nation. Under the agreement the Garden would have access to dry docks and repair facilities to meet the crew's needs. If the vessel were to be damaged on assignment the Limsan government would help back the repairs to the ship. Ammunition and supplies would be given once the ship was assigned to a task. In compensation for utilizing the free companies' vessel, the crew would enjoy waived dock fees and retain 20% of the profits they garner from assignments while in service to Limsa Lominsa.Campaigns
Pirate UprisingWith tension still arising from the Admiralties' decision to limit piracy to only Garlean vessels, a group calling themselves Le Legion Infernale emerged. The group aimed to start a civil war in Limsa to attempt to overthrow the government and return the laws on piracy to their previous state. Backed by a Garlean intelligence group and with support within the Limsan government the coup was near successful. A massive battleship was on loan from the Garlean government to give the pirates a chance. Dubbed the Leviathan, it was a formidable opponent even for the now seasoned vets of the Rocinanate. Despite heavy sabotage the crew was able to work around their wounded home. After rooting out numerous traitors and moles from the government and military the crew could set their sights on the pirate stronghold. With the siege of Dire Bulwark complete and the Leviathan sunk the crew worked to repair their vessel and return it to port. Repairs were eventually completed and the vessel was released from service until the ship was required again. Armistice Down With renewed tension by the Garlean Empire arising, the Rocinanate was called into service. A relief and resupply flotilla was heading straight for Castrum Marinum. With few ships to spare, the Roci was called to aid two Ishgardian vessels heading to the site. After a lengthy battle the Roci returned home alone. The ship suffered extensive damage and had taken weeks to repair.
Notable Battles
Garlean Treasure Galleon The first assignment of the Garden would prove a lucrative one. Reports had surfaced that with the defeat of the Garleans in Gyr Abania the empire was attempting to smuggle national treasures and rare resources out under the guise of a common Gyr Abanian vessel. Anti air had made it impossible for the troops to evacuate by aerial avenues. Surrounded by enemies on all sides the covert plan was implemented. By the time the alliance had found out they had no vessels in range that could reach them before they were safely behind enemy lines. Utilizing the Roci's speed and range the crew was able to quickly hunt down the fleeing vessel. With a token fight aboard the crew secured the ship. Opening up the holds below they found numerous wounded troops whom were later taken prisoner and the treasure laden hull of the report. The ship was turned over to the authorities. The total value of the haul was near 1.5 billion gil. The Garden received their 20% which resulted in near three hundred million gil for the company. Attack on the Leviathan Reports had surfaced that the Leviathan was operating with only a light escort fleet and no air support. The Roci and three Limsan vessels were dispatched to sink the might juggernaut. As the battle opened the contingent of airships held an early advantage. The escorts ships were damaged or sunk leaving their massive prey near alone. Owing to a saboteur back in Limsa, the floating fleet began to experience power loss. Due to the Garlean ships more advanced design the vessel maintained limited propulsion. The less advanced Limsan vessels fared far worse. Unable to move, they stationary targets were quickly dispatched. A hail of cannon fire and flak sunk the stricken ships. The Roci was forced to retreat after having only taken light damage. The cause of the failure was ruled to be contaminated fuel. The Siege of Dire Bulwark In support of a massive Limsan fleet, the vessels pushed into the rebel territory of the Legion Infernale. A massive naval battle took place with artillery support being offered by the Limsan ground forces. The heavy barrage was enough to falter the fortresses' defenses. After a few hours the Leviathan was sunk and at the bottom of the bay. Numerous rebel vessels were destroyed of fled. Dire Bulwark was placed under siege for a week before the gates were breached and land forces took the keep. Skirmish off the Coast Word had reached the Grand Companies about a contingent of Garlean forces attempting to reinforce a Castrum to likely use as a staging point. The Roci was dispatched along with two Ishgardian vessels being utilized as makeshift carriers. Flying in formation the fleets met over the Strait of Merlthor. Moving to screen themselves the Ishgardian vessels launched a wave of manacutters. The enemy vessels responded in much the same deploying numerous gunships. In total there was two frigate sized Garlean vessels and a heavy cruiser sized vessel. The battle raged above with the cruiser sinking one of the Ishgardian vessels. Through the efforts of combined fire the Roci and remaining Ishgardian vessel managed to sink the two frigates. The manacutters had held their own for a time but were woefully outgunned. Toward the conclusion of the battle few remained. Boarders had breached the Roci and were attempting to sieze engineering. The Roci's own Vanguards had landed aboard the larger vessel and began to attempt to destroy it from inside. Were it not for the retrofitted shield powered by Catherina's own aether the home of the Garden would likely have fallen quickly. As the battle raged on, the Roci began to take extensive damage. Finally able to crack the armor of the cruiser, the Roci fired even as the ship was beginning to lose power. Eventually the boarding team was able to damage engineering and disable the cruiser. The Vanguard fled to the security of their mothership as both vessel turned for safe harbor. The battle was ultimately deemed a draw with both forces have sustained extensive damage and casualties. A long time member, Aster Chant, lost his life in service to the Admiralty during this engagement.Motto:
