We give it names: the expanse, the black, this territory or that
We try to fill it with people and ships and colonies, so that every pinprick of light may no longer be nameless
But space is vast, distant, devoid, barren
There is a lot of distance between things
That is why it is called, space
A parallel universe whereby humanity has taken to the stars and colonised their local area of space. Centuries of expansion, colonisation, growth and the ever increasing distance between the frontier and the original homeworld gave space for infighting and eventually full blown revolt. The current standing leaves three major factions in the cluster: The Federal Coalition of Colonies (FCC), The Imperial Commonwealth of Mankind (ICoM) and the Democratic Republic of Free Territories (DRFT)
