WorldEmber Prep Checklist in The Bennorian Chronicles | World Anvil

WorldEmber Prep Checklist

Prep Week 1

Gain Inspiration from Yourself!

  • Read through your world, your current to-do list, and your world meta
  • Pinpoint the areas or aspects of your world you’d like to expand
  • To create your WorldEmber 2020 Pledge Document, make a generic article. Then, just list the articles, concepts and topics you pledge to work on during WorldEmber! We recommend at least 12-20 items in this, depending on how long your articles tend to be.
  • Once you’re done, simply write a comment at the bottom of this blog post, and copy the URL of your WorldEmber 2020 Pledge Document into the comment! You can add something else too, if you like. For example, it’s always great to know how you found the challenge – was it helpful? Was it easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy?

Prep Week 2

Organize your worldbuilding

  1. Start by thinking about the best hierarchy for your world! You might need to read over the blog post again for ideas and advice!
  2. Go to the Articles and categories interface in World Anvil and create your article hierarchy.
  3. Reorganize your articles into your categories!
  4. As a bonus, create a tagging system so you can find and list articles quickly whenever you need to!
  5. Once you’re done, simply write a comment at the bottom of this blog post, and copy the URL of your World’s Homepage, so we can admire your exquisite organization! Remember to let us know how you enjoyed the challenge, too!

Prep Week 3

GATHER AND CREATE ART ASSETS AND MAPS

  1. Create a list of maps and images which might be useful for your world. If you’ve completed the first WorldEmber homework challenge, you can go through your Pledge and see which images and maps you’ll need for the articles listed there.
  2. Find and upload the images to your World Anvil world, either as pictures or as maps! Remember to credit the artists!
  3. Add the images to your pledge document, so you’ll be more inspired when you look at it. You can either do this in a section at the bottom, as a gallery or next to the individual articles!
  4. Once you’re done, simply write a comment at the bottom of this blog post, and re-copy the URL of your WorldEmber 2020 Pledge Document into the comment!

Prep Week 4

Plan for Success!

  1. Start by creating a generic article called WorldEmber 2020 Plan for Success (or something to that effect)! You can make it a child article of your WorldEmber pledge article if you like.
  2. In task 1 you’ll need to clear up your writing space and share a picture. You should also share a list of the things you need for a successful writing sprint.
  3. In task 2 you’ll be figuring out how quickly you write, and how long it’ll take you to complete WorldEmber.
  4. In task 3 you’ll be making plans for WHEN you’ll be completing your writing springs.
  5. In task 4 you’ll write down the people and communities to whom you can turn for motivation, inspiration, and moral support.
  6. Once you’re done, simply write a comment at the bottom of this blog post, and copy the URL of your WorldEmber 2020 Plan for Success into the comment!

So far so good! Made a roll table to help me figure out what to write if I get stuck. Still fleshing out my meta but it's getting there. Most important its all starting to come together in my head and a general direction for the setting is starting to form!   Though I just found out that this style has messed up comments, can't read them at all.
