Medvind Traveling Festival

The Medvind Traveling Festival is a troupe of entertainers run by the Medvind family of bardic halflings. It is renown throughout all of Bennoria for having amazing performers and traveling even to the most remote of villages to entertain the people. Where ever they go they bring joy and hope, a respite from the bitter toils of life. The roster of entertainers change as members come and go. The only constant are the members of the Medvind family itself.
The Medvind Family have been traveling bards since the Age of Warring. For many years they were simply a family of traveling minstrels going from town to town like any other minstrels. In 24 D.A. the family met the Sacred Avatar of Arts. The meeting inspired the current head of the family to strive to be more than just a wandering family. They purchased a wagon and hired on a few more performers. Thus started the first Traveling Festival. As the years went on the troupe grew, members joining and leaving as they wished.

The current Medvind Festival is lead by Marcaryn Medvind, the current Medvind Sjef. There are at least 5 family members with the troupe constantly, with 10-20 doing jobs outside the caravan. The troupe currently employs roughly 25 entertainers of various types.

Family members have taken up many non-performing jobs to in the carnival. From food vendors to souvenir sellers, cleaners and manual setup. They handle the money, pay the performers, and act as barkers, announcers, and minor performers between major acts. Several more distant cousins travel around the countryside to scout out destinations for the carnival to go to.

When the troupe arrives at a chosen location, they will first put on a small performance for the locals, usually in the town center. This is a way of saying "thank you" to the town and generating more excitement for the upcoming festival. While the initial performance is going on, the setup crew is hard at work setting up the tents and arranging the wagons as best fits the current lineup of performers.

There is always one large tent where the main performances are held. Smaller pavilions are arranged for other events and smaller 'teaser' performances. There are a few uniquely designed wagons that food is sold from. Quickly erected market stalls sell a variety of goods, often festival themed items, and they will accept trade as well as coin.

No fee is required to attend the festival itself. People are allowed to come and go and enjoy the fair at their leisure. The main attraction are the performances in the main tent where a small fee is collected as attendees enter, though donations are also accepted above the required fare. Wealthy patrons who are wise will generously tip the troupe to encourage future visits to their area.
