Personal history
Until the age of 12, May's parents were together and they were supportive of her goals and could afford a decent life for her. Then, her father (37, Air Force) went MIA and her mother sank into a deep depression. With no money coming in, May had to get odd jobs for under the table cash at the age of fourteen and worked ever since.
At 25, she moved out of her mother's house for her own mental well-being, but still occasionally helped with the mortgage and bills so she never was able to save much. She got her reclusive streak from her mother, but her family on her father's side always tried to reach out to her, to help with money or connect her with jobs.
