The Inner Artist

Filli's Tome

Of Races and the Development of the Inner Artist
The races represented in this tome may not represent all races on the Arengold Tree, as Filli may only watch so many.
  • Elves must climb to, at minimum, the Hightrunk, about 300 feet above the Midtrunk. They are expected to be well-supported.
  • Humans must go to the Southern Gnarl and return when they have hunted an animal that spoke to them. They may be accompanied with aid, such as a parent or great friend, if needed.
  • Orcs must go beneath the Roots of their tribe and dig in the earth for 2 hours until they have become fully acquianted with the Canvas of Dumgarth.
  • Dwarves must meld a small statue out of metal. This statue may be from fresh ore, or given to the Dwarf by the parent.
  • Gnomes must be placed in a small room with any artistic implements the Ritual Master has access to for 24 hours. The Gnome is to be given food every 4 hours and may rest as long as they want. If the Gnome does not create anything in that time, they should have a conversation with a Bleachling expert.
  • Goblins must be left alone for 48 hours. Whatever path of chaos and creativity they pave shall be a sign of their maturity, or lack thereof. As long as some childlike spirit remains, the Goblin has grown.
  • Halflings must travel to an allied town and learn one ritual of the town's art style. They do not need to make artwork combining the town's art style and their own, but it is highly recommended.
  • Tengu must work on a single piece of art until they believe it is perfect. Once another authority figure, be it a parent or chieftain, agrees that it has reached as close to perfection as the Tengu is able to reach, then the Inner Artist has flourished.
  • Kitsune must invent a new art style, magical or mundane, and create a small piece with that art style. If the Kitsune is discovered to have taken the idea from someone who had already completed the ritual, they must try again.
  • Kobolds must utilize their knowledge of their heritage and their dragon to create a mural using Barkburn on the root beneath the tribe. If the tribe does not have room to make a new mural, the Kobold may add to a previous mural.
Almost every tribe follows some sort of Inner Artist ritual. This fosters the creativity of the individual in a way similar to how Filli was expected to act. Many tribes value this creativity, as it can spark magical qualities in Bards, Oracles, and Sorcerers. It is also important to be able to craft in the Arengold Forest.
However, the Filli's Tome is a) Not fully completed by worshippers and b) not listened to by every tribe. Talk to your DM to determine if your character's Inner Artist ritual would work for their backstory. Some tribes may not decide that the Inner Artist ritual is necessary.
