The Twitches

"We approached the monastery stealthy as we could, taking the pass up the limestone cliffs behind. We had weapons drawn, expectin' resistance from the monks. But when we got to to the doorway, we didn't find a party of monks ready to defend their artifacts, but instead monks beggin' us to take 'em. Didn't seem right, if you ask me. An' believe you me, they had good reason to, as we later found out..." - An extract from the journal of an explorer on the Gnochi expeditions
The Gnochi expeditions - strange as they were already, the mysterious circumstances were further heightened by one of the most perplexing conditions ever heard of: The Twitches. The Gnochi expeditions were indeed the first recorded cases, but were not the last. The members of the party who were affected by the ailment were those who ventured into the crypt beneath the monastery to collect the 17th volume of The Gnochi Tablets. They came out fine, and mocking the monks' dire warnings. However, as the party continued homeward the two members who ventured into the crypt started acting strangely, speaking gobbledegook, miming the same actions over and over, as well as suddenly twitching from time to time (the symptom that gave the condition it's name). They became more frustrated and even violent, prefering to be alone, until one evening, they decided to go ahead themselves. They were found when the group caught up two hours later, and the symptoms had taken control completely. Whats more, the 17th volume of The Gnochi Tablets was nowhere to be seen.

Symptoms

The gobbledegook and miming of the victims on the Gnochi expeditions was actually them repeating the same sequence of the events. The victim fully believes that they are experiencing the sequence, seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling and tasting the same thing, over and over, even feeling the same emotions as the person who originally had the experience. Although it is known to almost no one, the victim is reliving the events documented in the 17th volume of the Gnochi tablets, from the viewpoint of one of the characters.

Treatment

Although certain types of exorcism have been known to subdue the effects, there is no known cure.
