My WorldEmber Pledge 2022

I mean, sure, we're not even halfway through Nanowrimo and I'm possessed by the muse, and I probably almost certainly don't have time for Worldember, but WHY NOT I LIKE CHALLENGES.   Blame J.I. Rogers for this. I was inspired by her post.

Week 1: Make a plan and announce your project to the world!

If you have more than one world setting, which one is the most important to you right now?

It's a toss-up between Zarqon and The Borderlands Saga.

Why?

After I finish my Nanowrimo project, I plan on putting it & its world aside to get back to work on From the Ashes, Anala, and The Moonrunner. Two of those are set in The Borderlands Saga and Anala is set on Zarqon. There's probably a lot of stuff I could flesh out to help with it all.   There's also The Sand Wars, which I might tackle before getting back to The Moonrunner because it's an in-between novella.

Which area of that world setting will allow you to achieve your goals (Continuing your novel/campaign, or starting a new one?).

For Anala, I plan on fleshing out pages on Voco, Suncoast, and Nighttide. Those countries haven't had the benefit of a lot of worldbuilding and I should have a lot of stuff hammered out for the storyline in Anala. (Only one country features heavily; the other two are mentioned enough that I'd like some stuff worked out.)   For From the Ashes, the planet of Osecou needs some fleshing out, and things I decided while drafting the novel need to be put into the world so I don't forget them. (Yeah, WorldAnvil is like a very public story bible for me.) For the other two books, I need to really flesh out Osecou and also start fleshing out the wider universe that we'll be exploring in book 3.

How will it help you achieve those goals?

Well, hopefully it'll help me figure out some stuff for my writing and not just distract me from actual projects. I'm also hopeful that my worldbuilding and my writing will play off each other.   And who knows, maybe this time I'll actually get the words done. ;)

Week 2: Meta, mini-meta, and inspirations

Zarqon:

Week 3: Clean up categories, tagging, general organization

This is probably not going to happen. The categories are already pretty tidy in both worlds, and my tagging is minimal at this point. Also at some point I'd like to tackle re-org as an actual project so if I try to do it for WorldEmber I'll just, you know. Forget WorldEmber.

Week 4: CSS, presentation, and graphics

My layouts are fine for now (tweaking them is another big project that I don't want to tackle this month), so I didn't mess with that. I did go to Wombo and create some images for WorldEmber. They're below.

Had to take a huge break because of Christmas obligations (family + running a retail store) but now that I'm officially "on vacation" I hope to dive back in and get those 10K words done!
