It is a time of majesty and decay. When great kings and heroes in their mighty golden halls grow bloated in their hubris. When the once dormant gods of the ancients awaken and take back that which rightfully belongs to them.
The times have grown bleak. Fields have yielded an unnaturally small crop, the northern human blood rituals grow ever more desperate. They say that the cold-bloods in their glittering halls no longer care for ancient pacts and oaths, sworn by their honored ancestors. While warm-bloods grow restless in their stagnating kingdoms, which their ancestors once bought with blood. The once golden cities have turned into dens of corruption and bandits roam the lands uncontested. Creatures from another world have invaded the lands and there are talks of sightings of something even worse.And now the fabled Annals of Ordu have been stolen, the secrets of the Gods themselves written in their pages. The hourglass has been turned. Something ancient rises from the beyond and a devious plan has been put to motion. The world needs heroes now more than ever before.
It is an old and weary world, everywhere ancient ruins dot the landscape where thorough the many millennia, countless cultures have risen and fallen. Cultures that have left behind treasures, technologies and mysteries to be uncovered. Many of these are sought by hopeful adventurers and decadent, powerful individuals alike. Yet, underneath the shadow and legacies of those that came before, people persist and thrive. New kingdoms and empires rise, waiting until some new calamity swipes it all away again.
Annals of Ordu is a dungeon punk inspired high/dark fantasy setting with hints of scifi influences. It is a world of magic, intrigue, bloodied heroes and unspeakable cosmic horrors.
