Treaty of Crystopia

The Treaty of Crystopia, signed in Crystopia by the King of Snagria and the Knight-Regent, a representative of the house of Kaseto, set various terms, agreements and boundaries between the Kingdom of Snagria and the newly formed Kingdom of Kasetia. The treaty formally acknowledges Kasetia as a nominally autonomous kingdom and constitutionally defined separate political nation within the Kingdom of Snagria.

Purpose

The purpose of the Treaty of Crystopia was to end a civil war before it went to far and to give the regional Catfolk their own official homeland.

Document Structure

Clauses

  • Snagria acknowledges the Kingdom of Kasetia to be sovereign and autonomous state, and that the Snagrian Crown and all heirs and successors relinquish claims to the internal Government, property, and regional territorial rights of the same, and every part thereof
  • Kasetia is granted representation within the court of the Snagrian Crown to advise on foreign affairs.
  • Snagria has relinquished control of local and regional taxes to the Kasetian royal house of Kaseto.
  • Snagria, upon agreement with the house of Kaseto, maintains and controls national taxes within the Kingdom of Kasetia.

Publication Status

Summarized copies of the treaty are available at local government offices. A full copy is kept within the Governor's keep in Crystopia while the original is kept within the capital of Kasetia, named Kaset.

Legal status

The Treaty of Crystopia is made legal under the law of the Snagrian & Kasetian Crowns, which fall under the jurisdiction of both royal courts. The Treaty is legally recognized by the Kingdom of Snagrian, Kingdom of Kasetia, Sun Elf Dominion and the Dwarven Confederation. It is unknown if the people of the Wilds, the Drow and the Avariel recognize is as those three civilizations tend to be mostly isolationists. The Orcs of the Savage Wastes believe themselves to be superior to all other races, and thus, believe all other civilizations should be subservient to them instead of each other.
