The Alastor

The Plot: The AI BRAD wants control of the Alastor before he is destroyed by scavengers and is having trouble using his control over ship's systems to take control because an explosion severely damaged the ship and disabled BRAD.   The Theme: AI Takeover. Preserve freedom of will by preventing AI Takeover.   The Plot/Theme: BRAD wants to take control of the Alastor because it contains the AI Contaminator that will allow BRAD to tame and control humans and to stop their destructive rampage through the universe.   The Secondary Theme: You cannot trust any source of information.   The Setting: Society evolved to the point that the gap between rich and poor became so wide that the poor suffered worse than in any point in human history, with poverty, homelessness, disease, starvation. Corporations took on the support of the poor as "good works." This evolved into indentured servitude and, ultimately, slavery. The Alastor is a stand-alone ship that opposed corporate slavery. As such, it was deemed a "pirate ship." It's advanced technology made it a target for corporate espionage.
