My WorldEmber Pledge 2022

1. If you have more than one world setting, which one is the most important to you right now? Why?
The Aether Index is currently my only world. While I've been a WorldAnvil user since 2018, this will be my first foray into public worldbuilding—a big step for me! I've decided to participate in this year's challenge to develop both my world and my own skills as a storyteller and worldbuilder. I'm also interested in engaging with this incredible creative community in a more meaningful way. So, that's why I'm here!
2.Which area of that world setting will allow you to achieve your goals (Continuing your novel/campaign, or starting a new one?).
I'd like to lay a solid foundation for building out the world of Luralon as a base for a short story collection. I will focus on developing a solid primer for The Aether Index. If I achieve this, I'd like to delve more deeply into the underworld and esotera of Luralon.
3. How will it help you achieve those goals?
My primary storytelling interest is in the underworlds, esoteric orders, material conditions, and hidden powers that shape the world of Luralon. While The Aether Index likely falls solidly in the 'medium-dark fantasy' genre, I'm not particularly interested in telling the standard stories of kings and conquerors and long-foretold heroes. I'm more interested in telling stories about the grunt work that happens on the alleys, hidden enclaves, and antechambers that don't make it into the bards' songs, epic tales, and authoritative historical accounts. Building out these areas will help me craft the undertale of The Aether Index.
