The Warp
From the journal of the Deputy Director of the Occult Defence Directorate.Ahh , "The Warp", or as my previous employers called it , " The Duat" . That's where I'm writing this from. But, just what is the warp? The warp is a alternate plane, or dimension, seemingly made of pure magic, and according to some, its source. However, it should be noted that the warp is a general term, for a multitude of 'layers', each having the appearance of a foggy, seemingly endless sea. It is on these layers that ships travel, allowing for transport and trade between worlds. Some layers allow ships to reach their destination faster than others, even when the two are travelling at the "same" speed.
Appearance
All the layers look fairly similar, with the surface taking the appearance of a vast , endless ocean, ranging in colour from normal green and blue, to purple and gold. Thy sky is always overcast, emitting a faint glow matching the colours of the surface. Dozens of hurricanes whirl across the dimension, making almost all air transport unusable.Utility
Entry to, and exit from, The Warp, occurs only in specific regions on its surface. Such " Transit Zones" appear to be the focal point of the aforementioned glowing, as well as the strange weather. To transit, place your ship within the a zone, the borders of which are defined by a sudden change in colour from the surroundings, and are often marked by buoys. Then, tell your magical navigator to transfer your vessel to whatever planet corresponds to the zone you are at. Note, unless you have a skilled navigator like myself, you will appear within at least a few kilometers away from any intended destination on the planets seas.
