The dream weaver

Prompt 26: A myth or urban legend about a "monster"   The dream weaver   In the northern kingdom of Paurinha, to the far northwest of Thar’kor, the people tell stories of the dream weaver. The dream weaver is said to be a dark and shadowy creature that can pass through walls and doors and into your bedroom at night. As the tale goes the dream weaver hunts for naughty mis-behaving children and waits for them to fall asleep, it then torments they child with horrible nightmares for nights on end. If the child continues to be bad despite the dream weavers torment it will then begin to seduce the child with dreams of candy and toys in a far-off cave, for 3 nights. On the fourth night, With the sudden onset of a wild and unseasonal storm, it is said the child will rise from its bed, still soundly asleep, and walk off into the night searching for the cave of toys and candy, only to find the dream weaver lurking near by to eat the child whole.   The tale is steeped in an unfortunate truth for those how live in the northern hills of Paurinha, a wild and dangerous land. Here there are Stone Giant dream walkers, theatre roam the land bringing chaos and confusion with them as the pass, children being more susceptible to their charms can get entranced and drawn to the creatures. When they eventually find and touch, they giants they are petrified and either frozen in place for the rest of time or absorbed into the body of the giant. The giants are a terrifying image whit their long slender stony features broken but the distorted shapes of children clinging to their arms, legs, and backs.   The dream walkers were one normal stone giants, solitary and normally disinterested in the affairs of humans, however they have become trapped in their dream quest and lost to reality, so they perceived reality as a twisted, chaotic dreamscape and react to it as such. As their minds become more fractured their powers become more chaotic and unleash the horror of the distorted reality they live in on those nearby. The number of these dream walkers is unusually high in the north of Paurinha. This is due to the actions of one of the Dark lord’s generals who has been actively seeking out Stone Giants whilst they are in their dream quests and trapping them in their dream state , forming a barrier to keep people away from the area and hiding the movements of the dark lords forces in this area.
