The Orchestra Constellation

The "Orchestra" formation in the sky over Thaiterra was so named because the man responsible for monitoring them in their early years thought it reminded him of how an orchestra would be arranged for a concert. Even after it was forgotten that the stars were in fact monitoring satellites, the name stuck.

Geography

Most of the satellites are about the size of a family vehicle, and weigh about the same.   The GLX23 grouping is the largest cluster of satellites found over Thaiterra, likely due to their positioning over the Dome. It can be theorized that unlike most of the other satellites, which were tasked to survey the system at large, some of these satellites were designated to scan the planet itself, to detect weather phenomena and other threats to the community.

Natural Resources

The satellites are composed of tech that should have fallen into disrepair in the intervening 1000 years since their launch, but the GLX23 Grouping has stayed as steady as the rest of its counterparts. As such, it can be assumed that the level of technology is highly advanced and being able to obtain one of these satellites would be of immense help to any civilization acquiring it.   It's also pretty likely that there are some non-native materials used in their construction, and so could be valuable for fixing other devices from that time period.

History

The "constellation" appeared shortly after the arrival of the Fergana on Thaiterra, as a result of the launch of several satellite groupings around the planet and solar system, designed to feed information to the crashed ship of a) a potential rescue ship, and b) record and analyze the phenomena that caused the Fergana to crash in the first place, so that scientists could come up with a solution to avoid it.   To the native populations, the appearance of this astronomical features featured in several myths, including...
  • The Basadu goddess myth, of how [goddess] sent her children up to the skies to be her eyes when she was wounded and blinded by her enemy. (This suggests some knowledge within this tribe of the actual purpose of the satellites, which is intriguing, especially considering the proximity of the tribe to the original Dome.)
  • The [garruw tribe] song, which details several explosions on the ground and includes a series of voiced guttural intonations likely designed to mimic those explosions, which then resolve into a pleasing series of harmonic chords, expressing that the constellation has resolved into its proper formation. (Most of the mentions of this event and the formation in garruw culture follows this pattern, in which a fiery disaster is followed by harmony, which makes sense considering the even nature of the constellation and their propensity for sound, mathematics and patterns.)
  • The Dheizei fairy tale, in which Yggra of the White is thrown from her tribe when she is accused of stealing food, and wanders the surface inconsolable until these "stars" flare above her and she is then guided to a new chasm, where she is [crowned queen] of seven cities.
