Tale of the Dzhdagorr

For what does the apex predator have to fear but the monster in the darkness?
There is not much on Thaiterra to threaten the Garruw, which makes stories like the legends surrounding the Dzhdagorr all the more compelling. What sort of creature might it be, that even the mighty predators of the sky fears it?

The Stories

The Dzhdagorr is a monster figure in garruw legend, something that creeps in from the shadows at the edge of society and destroys things. This ranges from individuals to whole cities, and there are of course the versions that focus on children to serve as a deterrent from wandering away at night.   The monster is typically possessed of a pair of massive wings, spines all over its body, and is massive, glutted on the bones of its victims.   Interestingly, while the sky is traditionally a source of good things in most garruw stories, in all versions of the story the Dzhdagorr consistently comes from the skies above.

Possibilities

There is some credence to the idea that they might simply be meteors, or stem from the results of a particularly vicious meteor shower. This idea comes from The Faith of the Star-Eyed, and the concept of Glafiri, the meteorite servants of the evil god Dwazaed. The tales surrounding both the Glafiri and the Dzhdagorr bear several similarities, albeit one is based heavily around a celestial event, and another is a very terrestrial monster that physically sounds a lot like a particularly nasty garruw.   It's also possible that the legends stem from a particularly large and brutal species of Lafgej that has since gone extinct. Considering their physical similarities to the garruw, this is also a compelling possibility.
