Each month has 30 days, except Hrohandas which has 29 days (it is said that Hrogar steals a day of your life as you sleep on Hrohondas the 29th, and therefore it is used as a celebration of life and loved ones), meaning that the calendar year has 359 days.
There are three sets of four months, each season being one set. The seasons are Furrowdowns, Evershine and Harrowfrost, based generally around the times for planting, harvesting and snowfall.
The years are recorded based on the mythical occurrence of the Apocryphon, divided into eras based on significant historical epochs. The first era was the Wandering Years, where each race attempted to settle themselves in the new world they had arrived in. The second era was begun 3000 years after the Apocryphon, when the human woman Cobala arrived the Muziri Forest, and the terrible chain of events began that resulted in the rise of Cobala and the creation of the Muziri Desert. The third era began roughly 2000 years later, around the time that the Cobalan Empire fell, which coincided with the rise of the Ilumviran dynasty in the east, and subsequent foundation of the Ilumvir Empire. At present, it has been 859 years since the foundation of the Ilumbir Empire, making the year 859 3E.
The Ilumvir Empire does not use this calendar, instead marking the years since the Empress ascended to the throne (currently 562 Years Since Ascension/YSA). They do not divide the year into months, but celebrate the 15 days in the middle of the year in Dyron’s name.
