Moga's Wish Part 1: Yaraesa's Wisdom
The group had impressed him so far. They had survived the Deep Station. He almost smiled, remembering days long past. These would surely succeed.
“You folks seem to pretty well for yourselves in a tough spot.” He paused, choosing his next words. “Yaraesa, goddess of science and knowledge. She demands her followers search the universe for intelligence. For many years we have faced an unusual challenge. The Grand Library to Yaraesa, once lost, until my colleagues and I rediscovered it. The library held many powerful items. Naturally, such a font of power has attracted dangers beyond our capabilities. Few groups who enter leave, but those who have report dangerous horrors within. In one case a group retrieved an artifact but at the cost of many lives.”
He takes a long breath; Old men loathe such lengthy talk.
"We are searching for one commodity within, called the Book of Unwritten Truths. It holds records of history before the Gap. Anything else you find is yours."
His audience curiosity gets the better of them, and they agree to at least give it a go. Moga heads them back to his lab. He leads them to the back, where an elevator sits conspicuously in the wall. He presses the down button and waits. A small "ding" breaks the silence as the doors casually open.
"Go on in. Down to B. The elevator will wait for you to return."
The doors to close slowly, and the elevator descends silently. The group sits in the eerie mute, wondering if they had just fallen for a peculiar trap. As that thought finishes, the familiar ding signals the doors opening.
Plot points/Scenes
Moga greets the PCs at the starship hangar as they return with the star core which retrieved from the ship by a crew to bring to his new lab.
Moga takes the PCs to his lab, where they see the star core installed into one of his machines, and his lab flares to life. He tells the group about Yaraesa's Grand Library and offers to let them go in when they are ready.
The group makes preparations before entering the library.
The PCs enter a field outside the library and can enter without incident.
Sweeping the front of the first floor, the PCs find the bodies of those who came before. Information on the first artifact, the Soul Projector, and its location in the Priests' Quarters on the second floor is on Datapads these units carried.
As the PCs continue exploring, they find more information on the library itself. Investigating the library they determine there are four distinct quadrants to the library, each protected in its own way.
The group determines the book’s location in the 3F High Lore Master's Chamber.
The group, returning with the book, impresses Moga, offering them a nice reward. He tells them he helped build many of the objects in the library, and he will provide them a list. He requests that the PCs bring him any of the items they find so he can scan them and create a schematic to either upgrade the items or duplicate them.
He tells the party that an evil force corrupted the book, preventing its use; they need to remove the source of the corruption. This leads them to Suska, shows the party to the door to a Temple to Zon-Kuthon.
