Feru Character in Teryn | World Anvil

Feru (Fair-oo)

Feor was the first of the vegrāhid, the dwarven progenitors. He was also a skilled politician, convincing his siblings during an argument that he should be elected the first Regdāhid, or dwarf lord, over all of their people.   He carried Ferūklad, a gently waisted one-handed sword that was the culmination of the Ushgēd: a project by all seven vegrāhid to make items of great power to combine in making an even greater one. It was said that only the worthy could bear it, so Ferūklad became the symbol of the office of the Regdāhid, even more so than direct patrilinear descent.   His siblings were all gifted in various skills, but Feru was a natural leader. His greatest genius was his ability to meld the most diverse into a coherent and functioning whole. This would prove not only useful in battle but in politics, both internal and external; Feru was able to read people in such a way to maximize their strengths or exploit their weaknesses.   The clans Feruqebed, Balferu, and Ferum claim descent directly from him.   The metal iron and its alloys are known as ferum to Shāmalta and in Teryn as ferrum, named in his honor.

Artifacts

Ferūklad: The symbol of the Regdāhid of Sāvarāhid, it was the tradition that no emperor could be crowned without it. Fits into a similar mythological niche as Teryn legends of the sword Caliburnus. Historical anecdotes are unclear as to the properties of Ferūklad: tales speak of disintegrating enemies, sundering stone, and cleaving hardened steel with no effort.

This boy looks amazing! That glorious beard is indeed, a sign of his badassery. And it’s very cool to see that one of the most used materials is named after him! I’m really interested in seeing more about him, his journeys, what image he gave off, what his relations were to the other progenitors, what he did for dwarven society and what not
