The Threat of Id

What is Id

Ether is very easily influenced by many things. Emotion, thought, belief, and these things can be made manifest through ether. When unstable ether takes on the cognition of the living be it strong feelings, repressed memories or the pieces of metaphysical mind, it can manifest as what's called Id. Id by definition is the outcome of ether that has been destabilized by metaphysical concepts created by living creatures or another existence who are then imprinted onto the unstable ether.

Where does it come from

Ids are pieces of broken-off psyche that gained existence and pseudo-sentience from ether, that form the primordial soup which gave birth to the man-made monsters that can threaten society. Id is not always malevolent such as if born from a cognition that elicits benevolence or complete indifference, it will follow suit but this is rarely the case as its inherit nature to grow makes it a danger, Id manifestations are more often born from the repressed darker parts of the mind and the non-dangerous ones are consumed by the less kind ones.

The Dangers and Abilities

Like ether, pure Id lack physical form but can manifest its own dominions into the physical plane with traits dictated by the imprinted cognition acting as its frame. These dominions may be monstrous creatures, objects, locations or anything really depending on its nature. Id will often then search for more to grow itself, it can feed of the subconscious of the masses or devour other Id creatures to harvest their thought and energy, always looking for opportunities to spread and proliferate. The more focus and thought given to a concept, the more likely Id may birth from it.

Natures and Types

One of the most common ways Id becomes a threat is when they become Id Manifestations. Id Manifestations are any physical existence that was brought on through Id, with forms based from both true or fictitious. Particularly weak ones are often just blobs of ether and Id and an amalgam lacking any dominant traits, unintelligent with its only goal being to grow. But eventually once a particular facet of it may grow to dominate and may then become anything depending on the Id. More developed manifestations often display pseudo-intelligence, forming strategies, working alongside other Id, and learning. While some are indifferent to the masses probably due to a unique nature, many see it as a wonderful source of energy and cognition to be devoured. While they can hunt in physical forms, Ids also have more abstract abilities to feast with. Stronger ones have been observed to create what are know as "gates", pocket-spaces that act as both a nest and a trap.

The Threat of a manifestation can range from a weak inconvenience to a large scale threat, but they are not the only threat.
