The Corrupted Matrix

Eassen Neos (a.k.a. The Corrupted Matrix)

Profile
Eassen Neos, The Corrupted Matrix. He bears an ability that seemed to be a sliver lining in the tragedy surrounding his birth. Eassen was born to a very powerful remnant, this remnant being his mother who was turned at the last stages of pregnancy. After the mother was dispatched with the father dying in a battle that levelled multiple city blocks, Eassen was was born in a dangerous but savable state. Eassen was taken by an institution, but this action was not that of compassion, as this was an etherious research institution where his condition as a renaissance at birth made him valuable to this institution, where he would be raised, studied, and trained. He displays a very jovial albeit crude character. Both lax and seemingly carefree, these aspects seem to hide his immense intelligence and cunning, as he always knows more than he lets on. Able to covertly extract information out of people and completely hide his ulterior motives, the perceptiveness he has over near-anything is beyond astonishing. Though his cheery disposition is not a façade, his own intentions and goals are rarely selfish and has genuine compassion and interests, though rarely is he acting on his own intentions, that kindness being absent in the institution that had a grip on him for a very long time, a grip that though has greatly loosened thank to Eassen's own efforts, is still present.
Without the use of his remnant, his ability is "Boundless", an EI, which allows him to induce a glitching effect onto himself that may achieve a variety of effects akin to a breaking video game. He's capable of disjointed movements, short-distance teleportation, intangibility via clipping, bodily dislocation and many other effects.
Morris, The Bypass
The master of this remnant may not have been the original master. This remnant was born from the love from another, and a desire for the recipient of this love to be unbound by familiar tethers. Its claws undo the ever-present yet unseen webs that bind together the liminal, allowing its master to access the inaccessible paths and bend the rules subjected upon all others, and should anyone dare constrict its new master, its claws can re-spin these webs to close-off all paths, entangling them in impossibility, or open them all as they fall through the webs that once kept the from falling. However, this remnant must be cautious as, though it grants its master the very freedom of the open sky, its master is no bird.

Morris seems to be incapable of fully forming due to Eassen's unique circumstance and only partially and permanently manifested, unable to be recalled. It manifests as eight floating spider legs ending in large blade-like claws that seem to be controlled telekinetically. These claws can extend themselves to become longer as well as move at high speeds. In spite of these eight limbs not being attached to Eassen, they are capable of supporting him as if they were connected.

The ever-present nature of his remnant make both etherious and remnant abilities ever-accessible. Morris' power is called "Corrupted Matrix" and allows its claws to induce the same glitching phenomena Eassen is capable of into anything it strikes, but the effects instead being detrimental. His induced glitch state can even spread to surrounding objects and people, Eassen using Morris' claw to create "error spaces" that glitch anything that comes into contact with it, incapacitating people and even leaving them immobilized, locked in place. Though these effects a temporary, This glitched state is physically strenuous and difficult to break out of.
Style and Abilities

Eassen excels in both trapping and hit-and-run tactics. Outside of combat his glitching render nearly all types of defense or security useless, his high intelligence, perceptiveness and aptitude for all things clandestine are nigh unmatched, being ideal for infiltration, reconnaissance, and information-gathering. Within combat, he's a great threat if encountered one-on-one, primarily using Morris' claws as his weapon while using his error spaces for mobility and to restrict opponents. Having to keep track of Eassen's glitches and eight claws are often too much and it takes a single decisive strike place them at a severe disadvantage. Attempting to outnumber his is also a futile strategy, as his competency in quick dispatches, maneuvering and combat perceptiveness makes numbers rather inconsequential. Though an ability of his that's often overlooked is his patience, paired with his foresight, he can have a battle be decided long before a final blow, and akin to a spider, simply have to wait as his prey's struggles entangle them more and more in his webs.

Though extraordinarily skilled at cornering his opponents, he can sometimes have difficulty finishing them off. Eassen can struggle against juggernaut whose raw strength, stamina or sheer magnitude can barrel through his traps and tactics. His claws, though fast and sharp, lack strength with not a lot a force behind their actions and unable to handle too much force without breaking, and his error spaces are useless if its prey can rip it apart, some able to bulldoze past his glitching effects. In addition to this Eassen has no real way to deal with those who can fight at long range and, though quite uncommon, opponents that can see though his strategy and traps thus changing a battle of wits into one of attrition and strength are a true ordeal. Most of a trap's strength is lost if its prey is aware of it.

Physical Description

Body Features

Eassen is another Renaissance incapable of de-materializing his remnant, with Morris' claws simply just floating around him at all times usually in a retracted and folded state as to not get in the way. Also, when regrowing Morris' claws, they stick out of his back like spikes and is quite the inconvenience.

Special abilities

His glitching ability is useful in multitudes of fashions. His intangibility allows him to clip through solid objects, surpassing defenses and evading physical attacks while his teleportation allows for increased agility and unpredictability. Those two aspects are the only ones he can consciously enable while all other effects are seemingly random. Morris provides its claws which can work at blinding speeds, but cannot operate very far from Eassen. The error spaces created by Morris can carpet themselves to most surfaces and even be set up mid-air which then serve Eassen in two major forms. They serve as traps, paralyzing anything that blindly walks into them or deploying them directly on top of a target for immediate immobilization. The second form is using error spaces as transport terminals, Eassen launching himself towards and away from any surrounding paces allowing for great aerial mobility. These legs are quite breakable through and each subsequent destruction of one will severely impair his abilities, especially any offensive or mobility faculties. It takes a few days to grow them back where they uncomfortably emerge out of his back.

Apparel & Accessories

Eassen's outfit is quite simple but befitting of a person of his character. He wears a plain black T-shirt and pants with simple running shoes. Over this he wears a long grey leather hooded jacket with a black spiderweb design at the ends of the sleeves and near the end of the coat that nearly brushes against the ground. Eassen is often seen wearing a black leather mask with a white chelicerae design that covers the bottom half of his face as well as half of an electronic visor covering his right eye and surrounding area, the only visible part of his face being upper left part of his face. Despite the visor appearing to be crudely split in two, it seems to continue to function and displays a variety of emotes and eye expressions that match what his one visible eyes seems to convey. Finally, he wear a tie diagonally split coloured a dark grey and neon green with a black knight chess piece design styled as if a corrupted digital image.

Specialized Equipment

His unique combat style is best encapsulated by the other side of the predatory coin. Patient and cunning, he will gather and use his resources to prepare for the most opportune moment to strike. The eight legs moving quickly and precisely to rend targets apart and near-imperceptible webs that most only noticed when one is caught in it. Along with his glitching, his movements are unpredictable, rapid and quick. His floating dagger-like claws are his only weapon and used mostly to stab or slice from a fair distance, pull himself between error spaces, or set-up said traps, four legs able support Eassen's body weight. These claw appear rather short but can extend meters in length in a near instant.

History

The type of work the two have engaged in made their meeting an inevitability. Through the two are on amicable terms, they acknowledge that they are a great resource to each other and call upon one another should an occasion demand it. However, the two are not mere cold collaborators, their relationship being more than just each other's tools with both of them having had gone beyond the terms of their agreements despite the many secrets they keep from each other.   But even so, Alistair knows who holds Eassen's leash, and though he trusts that Eassen always try to circumvent any unsavory factors, he still recognizes that complete trust is simply unfeasible as long as Eassen can have his hands tied at a moment's notice.

History

Initially having been sent to investigate Merlo, he became determined to circumvent it knowing the undertones of such an investigation, where it would lead to given Merlo's power, and what that entails. With Alistair's help and some serendipity, he manages to succeed in helping Merlo evade the grip of the authorities and hide the true extent of Merlo's power. Merlo is eternally grateful for this as it allows him to continue to live as he has been, and the two have become close friends ever since. However some distance has to be maintained due to the complications surrounding Eassen's work.
