Tortles
This turtle-humanoid creature is natives to the archipelago that is now called the Plunder islands, and considered to be very rare. Their society is still primitive – the tortles live in small tribes and led by chieftains, who are very conservative about their traditions and spiritual way of life. Putting all of the tribes together, the Tortles are only a few thousands in number.
Tortle society is extremely different than most humanoids. They do not own houses, do not wear clothes and in general own almost no possessions. In their tribes, they share their resources equally – storing food just for yourself or your family is considered unethical. They live on the peaceful shorelines, having most of their buildings and stractures either in or outside the sea. They usually sleep in big groups right in the sport where the waves hit the sand.
The Tortles live very slow life – they are never in hurry. That is partly the reason why they do not have much contact with the world – even though the merchant alliance is very close, the Tortles have no need nor interest in foreign goods – they do not use stone for their houses, do not wear valuable silk, are not interested in swords – on the other hand, they do not have farmers that grow wheat to sell or vineyard to sell excellent wine.
Physicaity
Tortles are, well, they look like a large turtle that walks on two. Their hands do have opposite thumbs for tool-using, and many times they have some traditional tattoos or body-paints, depends on their specific tribal ethnicity. They are a bit higher than dwarves, usually raising to about a meter and a half in adulthood. They are not sexually dimorphic, which means that both males and females looks almost the sameRemove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
