The War of the Witch King

The Kingdom of Lazulyan grew out of a group of survivors who found refuge in the caves of a mountain at the northern tip of the Central Range. It became one of the only safe places to live during the latter parts of the Destruction, and after Dahak had been destroyed became a prosperous nation connecting West and East. However, as happens with all things, the greatness of Lazulyan would not last. It came to be ruled by a new king who began seeking more lands and people to control, eventually came against the Kingdom of Than'drellfal to the West after subjugating all the tribes before it. Than'drellfal fought back and the Witch King's conquering came to a halt as the first war since the Destruction of Dahak began.
As the people of Than'drellfal fought to defend their home, another force arose to take back theirs. Led by a great chieftain wielding their ancient weapon, the tribes of the conquered land united under the banner of the Black Unicorn. The chieftain was met by a wandering warrior who taught her the ways of war and with his help she led her people in many battles. The wandering warrior told the chieftain he had been Kingsguard, one of the most powerful servants of the Witch King, and though another may have balked at that the chieftain did not, as he was her friend and had given much to help her people. They sought an alliance with Than'drellfal, whose king was called the Purple Lion among his people for his nobility and fighting spirit.
Together the combined army marched towards Lazulyan to force the Witch King's surrender, but as they moved through that kingdom warrior saw the devastation the Witch King had brought on his own people and vowed to bring an end to it all. He raised his own banner and called to the people of Lazulyan who had been so hurt by their king and many joined him, proclaiming him the true king. Accepting the burden he did not want but knew must be borne, the warrior took as his symbol the Blue Bull to show that he was of Lazulyan and would not stop until his enemy was defeated.
When the swelling army sighted the towering walls of Lazulyan they were met by a small force from the Phoenix Order of the southern isles. Led by one of that order's greatest warriors, known as the Silver Phoenix, they warned the leaders of the army of the Witch King's pact and true power and offered their help as the army was not experienced in fighting demons and magic as they were. The Black Unicorn of the North, after consulting with The Blue Bull of the East and the Purple Lion of the West, accepted the proposal of the Silver Phoenix of the South and welcomed him to their Grand Alliance.
Together as one these powerful leaders and their great army defeated the forces of the Witch King took the city of Lazulyan with minimal destruction of the grand structures therein, and the Heroes of the East and West, North and South, entered the mountain fortress to strike down the Witch King.
