History
Sathe’s Crater was founded by a group of refugees after emerging from a fallout shelter nearby that stumbled into the remains of a old town near the large crater. These refugees had been underground for generations, few had skills further than theory that applied above ground. Those that did such as gardeners and engineers found their knowledge harder to apply above ground now with unpredictable conditions. Previous managers and officials tried to organise the populace and find natives to the surface to add their experience to the small town. Soon the buildings still standing were renovated with the pieces of those who weren’t, children were being born and crops sewn, curious villagers had discovered how to farm mushrooms found growing in the area.
On a quiet day after a few decades, sound of metal rang through the mountains, and Sathe’s Crater was made aware it was not alone in the world. The railway was being rebuilt. The sound continues for months until strangers arrived in the town. Dressed in well tailored clothes, clean and well kept, they brought books and tools with their strange talk of nations and deals, never once asking permission for their buildings. Train tracks that stretched forever re-emerged from the ground, and the people learnt of places they could go and items that were available for import in exchange for their mushrooms and corn, much needed in the food deserts to the west. Thus Sathe’s Crater was opened to the world.
