Barcovia

Introduction

Barcovia is a large city on the coast just north of where the Tarvanic River meets the sea. It is the major port city of Nandarian Collective and is the home port of the Nandarian Navy.

Visual Overview

The sea walls protect merchant ships that are unloading their goods onto the many docks. It appears to be an organized chaos as laborers, mostly human, unload the ships. The inspectors verify the manifests match the cargo and the Welcome of the Docks collects the tariffs from the reluctant captains. Just to the northeast of the dock there is a cacophony of noise as the large plaza is filled with people of all sorts. This is the Barcovian Market where most anything available inĀ Terrana can be found, for a price. Throughout the plaza you have a wide range of shops, with simple carts where a merchant loudly proclaims what she is selling, to tents or small wooden structures providing shade for proper negotiations. Along the perimeter there are stone buildings for the more prosperous merchants and their refined and/or exotic wares.

Industry & Trade

Shipbuilding and handling the importing of goods throughout Terrana.

History

The humans weren't originally from Agandaur, but from Costestan. Humans though love to reproduce and after a few generations familial bonds are broken as fights over resources lead to bloodshed. The Third Lovelian-Duadorian War drove the initial settlers sail away in search of a location away from the feuding countries. After months at sea, they were able to find a suitable location to beach their ships in southern Agandaur. The land was warm and from the dirt and grass they created their initial homes and thus started the city of Barcovia, refuge from the storm. Of the initial settlers, Anthorn Bastel, had the foresight to organize everyone to build a simple defense around their village. Not to separate each land claim from one's neighbors as they had done to indicate a claim, but to protect all from the native predators that stalked in the tall grasses on the outskirts. For as the animals were initially cautious of these new arrivals, soon there were attempts, with some successful, to take their livestock, child or even an unsuspecting adult as pray.
