Geography of the Sundered Realm

The geography of the Sundered Realm varies from the mundane to the extraordinary, depending on the changes wrought on the land during the Sundering and the Convergence. Continents and countries experienced great geographic upheaval, with some areas being split apart or gaining landmass, and new features emerging or existing features being changed, sometimes in extreme ways. The nation-continent of Australia contains many examples of the various changes experienced by Terra as a whole.   On a continental scale, the Australian mainland was broken into three large islands and a number of smaller islands, partly due to geographical faults and partly due to a massive rift with the Elemental Plane of Fire. Meanwhile, the island territory of Tasmania became a part of Kooriland by two land-bridges, transforming the strait that separated the two areas into an inland body of water called the Bassey. The territory also dramatically increased in size, with land emerging through both tectonic plate and fault movement and planar phenomena.   On the regional scale, the geography remains more-or-less the same, except in places where planar phenomena distort or exaggerate the geographical features. These geographical distortions vary wildly depending on which plane is linked with the Prime Material, and the strength of the planar phenomena. In Kooriland, for example, the Singing Spires, once the modest elevations of the Blue Mountains, are much higher, wilder peaks thanks to the Feywild's influence; in Topenn, the Kimberley rainforest has become even more dense and vibrant due to the convergence with Arborea; in Westraya, the central desert has overtaken much of the land due to the huge convergence with the Scorchsear, the elemental territory that marks the transition between the Elemental Planes of Earth and Fire.   The planar phenomena can affect the bodies of water surrounding the land as well as the land itself. The large underwater rift with the Elemental Plane of Fire has also turned the water that separates Kooriland from Westraya into a boiling sea called the Scalding Strait, while the planar convergence with the Scorchsear also makes the sea surrounding Westraya incredibly hot and difficult to traverse.
