The Raven's Coin

A simple coin, bearing the relevant mark of the region and consisting of the relevant metals, indistinguishable from any other. Always the last coin to leave the pouch and never to remain in the hand of the one not chosen to bear it, this seemingly common item betrays little of its intended purpose.   Often personally handed to followers and thralls alike, the coin is, in fact, a gift from the Morrigan herself. Obscured with layer upon layer of obfuscating magics, the true nature of this coin is unknown even to the bearer. Often seen as a 'lucky coin' or similarly sentimental item, the bearer will protect it with a fervor akin to that of a superstitious fanatic. However, when questioned, offering little to no further explanation or apparent understanding of the trinket. Most curiously, the bearers of such an item seem to be unaware of any details pertaining to its potentially nefarious nature - often even unable to admit the link between the common item and the Raven.   It is believed that the coin serves as several items in one; allowing communication between the Raven and the bearer, providing the location of the bearer and possibly even an anchor for the strange charming effects that seem to befall all bearers. There is no telling how many of these coins exist, nor who possesses them. Obfuscated from most forms of divination, the coin almost always appears as nothing more than a simple unit of the local currency. Whether or not there is a greater purpose for these gifts of the Raven is unknown, a thought both deeply upsetting and strangely comforting - like an abstract concept existing purely as theory.
