The Good News

Also known as "Thieves' Cant", The Good News acts as a means for ne'er-do-wells to identify and communicate with one another. The Good News can be verbal, gestural, or written.

Verbally, Friends can discuss their plans in their native tongue, cloaked in banal, mundane language. The meaning is clear to other Friends and those who know what to listen for, but to the outside observer, the speakers could simply be discussing a mundane event, such as planning a possible dinner party.

Sign language is another means by which Friends can identify one another - what looks like a harmless off-hand gesture to the untrained eye can impart a wealth of meaning to one of the Friends. This can be used when there is a verbal language barrier as well. Graffiti can also factor into the Good News, marking territorial boundaries, safehouses, or location of law enforcement officers.

Pictured below is an exchange of The Good News between two Friends, Chandri (played by Juniper Jones), and a player who has chosen to remain anonymous. You can see the initial stumble as the language was being developed in real-time.
