Rian Rosenthorne the Merrymaker
The Merrymaker Rian Rosenthorne (a.k.a. The Rhythmist, The Tinkerer, The Toy Guy)
The Bard
Growing up, Rian was considered the more agreeable of the Rosenthorne brothers on account that he was much quieter and didn't cause trouble. After a day of harvesting wood, he was often seen humming or singing little tunes while carving leftover scraps of wood into little toys or miniatures. He never kept them, and instead, he gave them away to whoever would take them.
“Ganrun to Gantor, some village two,
that Rhamuk wrecked for spit on his shoe.”
When he and his older brother—Kassian—journeyed into the forbidden Outerlands, Rian was able to interpret the Book of Dragon Dances which granted the brothers the ability to communicate with the dragons that lived there. With their help, Kassian was able to expel the Warlords from the West and form the Unified Nation of Dhaguk.
While Rian had always had a passion for song and dance, the Book of Dragon Dances turned his hobby into what was practically his career. The dragons of the Outer Lands are just as intelligent as humans, but they can't communicate by human speech. Instead, they communicate through dance and roar-like vocalizations. Using what he learned from the book and socializing with the dragons he taught more humans and helped strengthen the bond between the Outerland Dragons and the humans of Dhaguk.
A Tale
It is said that he had an ax named Gellognar (Rukkian for "Booming" or "Gives Thunder") which could chop even the thickest of trees. One tale has this ax being stolen by an Ayltorg berserker who used it so frivolously that the Elder Forest was cut in two, permanently dividing Ayltorg and Rukkian woods. The only way Rian could get his ax back was to lul the warrior to sleep with a lullaby while his brother cut off its head. Rian always kept close guard of his belongings afterward.
Sh'sha, sh'sha, Ayltor tahk;
A'kah, a'kah, lraltor raak;
Dh'tayaa flaan. Lrallon taog.
Sahd taog, shrahd taog, Ayltor tahk;
Na bukkulg zaffon;
Ta lyts taog glatton.
Sahd taog, shrahd taog, lraltor raak;
Sahd taog do shrahd nakon zumkg.
Hush now, hush now, brute Ayltor.
Oh how, oh how, great warrior;
the day fades, it's gone now.
Sleep now, rest now, brute Ayltor.
O'er wood you've won,
but night's begun.
Sleep now, rest now, great warrior.
Sleep now and rest thy bones.
The Legend
The most popular legend about Rian Rosenthorne is the one that earned him the title of Kuaigeltor—Rukkian for merrymaker.
With his brother new to the Dhagukian throne, Rian once went on a mission to help a Folgtorg town after their warlord had been forced to step down. Without a central leader, the town had been without protection and frequently was attacked by Ayltorg nomads.
While the dragons and warriors worked to defend the town, Rian worked to lift the people's spirits and help build up their community. He helped repair homes, take care of the elderly and disabled, made toys and gifts for the children, taught dragon dances, and held festivals that often made a mockery of their enemies.
This spawned a winter tradition where when the first of the new firewood is brought in, some of it is used to carve toys and children give them to other families. As the holiday grew more popular, the gifts grew more varied, and even most adults began to partake in the festivities.

History
Bhantor met Rian when the human and his brother journeyed into the Outerlands. After the two brothers had managed to convince the dragon king to help their cause, the dragons prompmtly allowed them to ride home on their backs. On the way Rian and Bhantor chatted like they had known eachother all their lives and quickly became the best of friends.
Bhantor would frequently aid in Rian's performances by flapping his wings to create wind or pretending to be a mountain.
