Aiuera
Aiuera hosts a huge range of climates, from tropical at the southern coast to polar at the northern coast. The vastness of the island makes it most convenient to split it into four sections when discussing it: the North, the West, the East, and the Southeast.
Aiuera stands as the largest known island in Crysana, though many believe the unexplored Vacsoma to be far larger. Though the far north has not been completely explored and mapped, It is believed over 5000 maiels stretch from the southernmost isle to the northernmost tip, and over 3800 maiels from east to west at its widest.
Geography
The North
The North is all of the lands in and above the Raemao Acselmonts and Raemao Acsvimonts. The closer to those ranges one gets, the warmer and wetter the climate becomes. Runoff from the mountains flows into the massive Hituelo Decsantic, which in turn fuels the equally massive Manelo Tacitagov. The trees fade away in the north to the cold, dry grasses of the Corumo Godoc. Above the Godoc, few have explored. What we do know is that the grip of cold air tightens the further north one goes. Snows reach the height of a man until all that exists on land is ice. To the west is a collection of broken, unstable isles home only to strange creatures and ever more cold. To the east, a small forest clings to life under the shadow of a towering mountain range. Off the eastern coast, the isle of Ica stands as the largest daughter isle of Aiuera. The southern portions are well known, with the rolling landscape of the Corumo Torsdu turning into the Raemao Ictrase. The Hituel Uadotsu, said to be unnaturally blue, flows off the southern coast. The north is unexplored, leading to the only knowledge coming from tales of snow flats occasionally broken by giant spiked trees. The West
The West contains all lands west of the Acselmonts, the Raemao Manesa, the Corumo Caling, and the Raemao Dacstruul. Starting in the north is Oncor. Its other name, the Frozen Sands, aptly describes the climate here. Ungodly cold winds blast Oncor from the west without moisture. Below are the Raemao Bisia, if they can even be called mountains, for most are no more than rocky hills. They gather in the west and fade into the east, as though they are crowding to see the edge of Aiuera. Extensive cave systems lie underneath, though the question still remains as to if they are natural or man-made. Off the western coast, there lie the islands of Saiclopsa, where few have traveled to. Even the serpent riders rarely go there. They are said to be stony and infertile like Bisia. Queer storms rage there that strike hard before disappearing suddenly. To the east lies the Hituelo Dandur, a massive river with sprawling branches. It leads into the Uelo Livinlac, the largest lake in Aiuera, and empties off the southern coast. The Corumo Pynomli spreads in the land between Bisia and the Manelo Tonsing, providing many maiels of fertile farmland. The Tonsing is quite different throughout, being sparse and open in the north and dense and wet in the south. Between Bisia and the Caling is the Corumo Aving, which is less fertile than the Pynomli, but is far richer in choice stones and iron. On the very southern edge is the Corumo Garanas. The grass here grows thick and tall, almost like trees. The land is mostly flat with the exception of strange dips, some hundreds of feet deep and as many wide. The East
The East contains all those lands south of the Acsvimonts, east of Oncor and the Pynomli, and north of the Dacstruul. Starting from the north, the Corumo Samaier with its smooth, rolling hills reaches down the Acsvimonts. The densely-forested isle of Tanglia lies off the western coast. Just north of the Raemao Fading is the Manelo Ielori where trees with leaves of yellow grow, fueled by the Hituelo Tamri. Within the Manesa is the Corumo Doraier. Here, the land descends like a bowl for thousands of feet towards the center until a green glow reveals itself. Now built over by the city of Caeroptul, and before by Tarcsitanic, one used to be able to see a portion of the believed largest crystal supporting Aiuera. To the south is the Caling where the most fertile grasslands lie along with a great number of small groves of trees. Many rivers flow through this region, with the largest being the Hituelo Aldemac and the Hituelo Fynaisac. Near the eastern coast, stony hills rise up, giving way to stark cliff faces. An isolated piece of land known as Corpain lays outside of the Dacstruul. The Corumo Corpain fills the entire space with tall, wispy grasses. Beyond the edge are small, scattered isles, the largest being named Uidorila. Wind batters these craggy isles, leaving little moisture. Further south is a large, yet isolated, flat section of land known as Cracia. Within is the northern Corumo Pacrit, where the hilliest portion of Cracia lies. Below is the only marsh and flattest land in Aiuera, the Manelo Hasin. The Hituelo Matan and Uelo Gilopan are the largest bodies of water in the Hasin, besides the base water of the marsh itself. To the south are the Manelo Asim and Corumo Funot. The Asim, fueled by the Hituelo Lipet, stretches from the edge of the Hasin to the edge of the Dacstruul. The Funot is flat, then descends towards the coast, getting alarmingly steep. The Southeast
The Southeast is those lands encircled by the Dacstruul and connected by the southern valley through the mountains. The sprawling desert of Cocuecs is a place not much explored by Etherians, but only known through the words of those peoples in Ociania. It is a parched, cracked land, supposedly with canyons that can swallow cities whole. At the lowest point is the Uelo Oasis where the only hint of fertile life exists. In the southeast corner of the Dacstruul is a valley passage where the Corumo Sal grows through. Sheer cliff faces lie to either side of the passage, with frequent avalanches. The land here is tropical, rain frequenting east of the mountains. Crawling north along the mountains is the Manelo Marisai. Off the eastern coast is the isle of Giruenila. The climate there is hot and wet, though surprisingly few trees grow. A chain of unstable isles lies to the north, while a mysterious crevice tears down the middle of the Raemao Sont. The stone there is just like that along the very southern coast of Aiuera and on the isles between that and Aecara: scorched, blackened like death by crystal explosions.Fauna & Flora
Due to the vastness of Aiuera, only the more strange and magical creatures will be discussed here, since they are most notable.
Serpents
Serpents are a diverse group of lizard-like creatures that have crystals growing out of their skin, allowing them to fly without wings. They seem to infest every corner of Aiuera, coining the name Land of Serpents. Serpents exist in many different forms. They range in size from no larger than a mouse to the fabled Vicagar the Godbeast that was a mountain of scales. Generally, the kinds of serpents depend heavily on the climate and geography of the land they inhabit. For instance, there are fat grazing serpents in the southern grasslands; small, hardy serpents on the sharp peaks of the Dacstruul; and huge, vicious serpents lurking within the Tacitagov that eat trees. Perhaps the most influential serpents are those that the serpentriders mount. Many are large enough to ride, but few are tame enough. Only the carnivorous dregers in the Pynomli and the giant, noble hurcih of Pacrit are reliably willing to be rode. In fact, the hurcih are the very beasts that allowed Clidilian civilization to conquer so much land.Other Crystalline Creatures
In addition to the serpents, there are a few other known creatures, and even plants, that have crystals growing in or on their bodies. Of utmost importance to the Empire is a spider-like creature that lives in the labyrinthine caves under Bisia. Named as carcs by the indigenous peoples, these strange arachnids have two valuable traits: crystals grow from their backs and they reproduce extremely fast, being able to mate after only a month from being born. This makes them useful for farming crystals, an enterprise fully utilized in the frontier city Daetursia. Flying horses known as paicesus live in the Caling. They have great wings, but those alone are not enough to grant flight. Crystals grow in their bones, sometimes poking through their skin. The people there revere the paicesus as holy, only mounting them in times of desperate war. The only known plant in all of Crysana to grow crystals is a tree indigenous to the Acsvimonts. Though, the main focus of these ecsut, as they are called, is the bountiful fruit that comes from it, for the crystals only grow in trace amounts in its bark, only enough to support the weight of the tree itself. Other than these, there is said to be fish in the waters of Oasis that flies out of the water from crystalline scales, only to rush back in when they cannot breathe.Cousins to Man
There live two known humanoid creatures in Aiuera, if they exist past tall tales. First are the saiclops of the Saiclopsa. Tales say they are enormous, hulking creatures with the likeness of man, but only one eye and none of our intelligence. Thousands of maiels away are the harpis of the far north, said to inhabit the vast chain of broken, unstable isles there. Legends say that harpis are humanoid creatures no larger than turkeys, with spindly wings instead of arms. They are supposedly hideous to look at and act more like birds than humans.Other Strange Beasts
Of the other noteworthy creatures, there are few that we know for sure to be real. The largest kind of bird in Crysana, called goranaavs, lives in the Tacitagov. They have wingspans wider than any other flying beast, being fifty feet from tip to tip. Predatory by nature, they prey on the other great beasts of the woods, but will kill humans if hungry enough. Monstrous rodents named horks roam the western coast of Bisia. They have the appearance of rats, but proportionally their legs are thicker and their tails shorter. They are about the size of small cows. Though never seen by an Etherian, strange beasts called dragons are known to live on Daemo Mosel (named Fireland by Dandurians) far to the west, occasionally venturing into Bisia. Witnesses say their skin is pure black stone, with red eyes of hate, huge leathery wings, and breath that can melt steel. According to the words of Tal, dragons are mindless agents of the Fenucs. Perhaps the most mysterious and fantastical creatures in Aiuera are the ikeons of the far north. Regarded as legends even to the Vaklians, there is no proof of their existence. Tales of their appearance surprisingly mirror those of dragons, except with bodies and wings made of ice, and intelligence that rivals man. Some larons claim the ikeons, if they are truly real, were created by Tal after the Great Burning in case the Fenucs ever escaped its prison and invaded with its dragons.Natural Resources
Basically any natural resource one can think of is in Aiuera. Be it precious metals or gems, grain or meat, lumber or stone, it exists somewhere on the massive island.
The most precious material to Etherians, however, is crystals. Specifically, the largest known crystal in Crysana lies in the center of the Manesa, and it is there where the Empire finds its greatest interest.
