Paladin Fortress

Built into the side of a mountain on the planet Awak'Rix, Paladin Fortress is home to The Space Paladins. It stands as a beacon of hope and justice for those who inhabit the more dangerous sectors of space. It serves many functions: headquarters, home, safe haven and prison. It is the largest structure on the planet and is equipped with all the latest in cutting edge planetary defence systems.

Design

Most of the fortress is set into the mountain, however there is a front section which protrudes from the mountain face. This exposed section is a series of sweeping balconies, collonades, smooth towers and large windowed rooms. The outside portions are painted in white, with gold and turquoise trimmings, the colours of the Paladin order. Glass fronted elevators run up and down the mountain giving face giving acces to the fortress. The building is constructed from the best materials money can buy, and the decor is clean simple and elegant.

Purpose

The fortress serves many purposes, not only the home of the Paladins. It provides a safe haven from those on the run from the Cartel or other nefarious organisations, it also serves as a temporary prison for those wanted criminals the Paladins have apprehended. There are several settlements on Awak'Rix, and the fortress acts as a central seat of governance.

History

The fortress was originally a military base and research post, abandoned after the war. A group of space pirates had taken up residence in it, and had been there for several years, launching raids on nearby shipping lanes. The Paladins heard about them and routed them in a well planned tactical assault. The paladins had been working out of a spaceship untill this point and decided that having a fortified base would be quite beneficial. They have spent the last ten years turning it into the impressive structure it is today.
